  2. Hi, do you still have the bartech for sale?
  3. The kit comes in a rolling bag that looks like regular luggage. There is a 400 watt and a 200 Watt Open face HMI. Cables, ballasts, spare bulbs, barn doors, chimera rings, and chimeras are included for both. This set has seen Extremely well cared for. Absolutely no scratches or dings on either unit or ballast. These were never rentals but always personally operated. One of the great things about this set is that it weighs in at less than 50 pounds. If you're a traveling shooter looking for some lights with punch these are perfect. In addition they are weatherproof so you can shoot away in the rain. For $8000 I'll throw in a chimera medium pancake lantern and some stands to hold your new lights. You can check out the units on the manufacturer's site at the link below. http://www.bron.ch/kb_pd_en/index.php Thanks for looking, Scott scottippolito@gmail.com
  4. Sony EX1 Loads of Accessories and Full Zacuto Handheld Kit + a bunch of extras $9500 OR BEST OFFER! Total cost of everything new is well over 17000.00 I decided to make it easier and just sale everything I have as a complete package. I'm also throwing in a LED Litepanel mini (daylight balanced), with lithium battery and a set of their precut gels (CTO, CTB, diffusion, etc.,). Just checked the Litepanel website and they're still selling these for over $1000 . It comes with standard wall charger, cigarette lighter adaptor and various snap on adaptors for worldwide use and charging. I have a bunch of other items I will be throwing in, for free, to the first reasonable offer (from someone here in LA preferably, unless out-of-state folks don't mind shipping costs.) Leaving the biz so I won't be needing any film gear anymore. The Sony EX1 was recently checked out by Sony when I had the firmware upgraded. No problems were found and this paperwork will be provided. The EX1 comes with all original cables, the standard single battery charger (BC-U1), and manual. There are 2 8GB SxS cards, as well as 2 MxR cards (these allow the use of cheap SDHC media). The Sock-loupe can be placed over the LCD screen and turns it into a high quality eyepiece- this is perfect when working outdoors in bright conditions. There are a total of 4 batteries, 2 of which are the super high capacity Switronix style. Each one will run the camera for approximately four hours each. The Dolgin charger can simultaneously charge all 4 batteries in less the 3.5 hours. The Rode Shotgun mic is high quality and short enough that it remains out of frame when zoomed out to full wide. The Lavs are Sennheiser and rock solid. It all comes in a Kata camera backpack big enough to hold everything and more. A complete Zacuto handheld rig. All components are less the six months old and still in new conditions. This is everything you need to shoot controlled handheld shots with the EX1. All prices are current off the Zacuto site. The only alteration I have made is to the "lunchbox" unit. This is a counterweight that hangs off the back rods of the camera. Out of the box it weighed about 12 pounds, but I found this was way to heavy as a counterbalance. At its present size it is perfect balance for the camera and a Vocas two-stage mattebox (which has already been sold). The Zoffset allows you to position the camera so you can work off either the viewfinder or the LCD monitor. The Minimount allows you to work a Noga arm with monitor off the rods. The Zandy attaches to the Zgrips and allows you to mount a monitor there (this is key for handheld work). Sony EX1 2 8GB SxS cards 2 MxR cards 2 Sony BP-U30 batteries 2 Switronix S-8U62 batteries Hood Pro Sock-Loupe Dolgin 4 Battery Charger Rode NTG-1 Shotgun Mic Sennheiser EW100 G2 Wireless Lav mics Kata BP-502 Camcorder Backpack Universal Base Plate with 2 12" rods Shoulder Pad with 2 7" rod Zoffset Lunchbox (altered to weight of 6 pounds) Minimount (can be used for Noga arm) Zacuto Z grips (and spare handle) Zandy (to mount monitor on Z grips) For the first reasonable offer I will throw in an assortment of 4x4 filters. A 1/8 black frost and five colored grads (a blue, a couple of oranges, a couple of reds). A Pelican case with an unused set of pick and pluck foam so you can fit it for your own gear. I have another Pelican case, can't remember the size but I'll throw it in as well. It's a carry own version with wheels, space for laptop, meters, etc., It has the velcro foam divider system so you can adjust it to fit your particular gear. Also, I will include a Sekonic L558 Cinemeter that is in perfect condition as well. No scratches as it was lightly used. Comes with belt pouch. If you're so inclined, and in the LA area I have a few other sundry items, a boom pole, a bunch of gels, a couple of light stands. A set of Woods Suction Cup grips for mounting cameras to cars. And anything else I can find that I won't need now that I'm leaving the film biz. e.g. assorted gear bags, a P-touch labeler. I will also include a JBK cine follow focus. It has a busted tightening screw, but the maker says he can fix it easily. Basically for the cost of shipping you'll have a follow focus that works with the camera. It comes with a geared ring you attach to the camera's lens that allows the follow focus gears to engage. I have two ebay auctions going where you can see the camera package and the Zacuto gear. These auction don't include the Litepanel LED, follow focus, filters, etc., http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...T#ht_500wt_1182 and http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...T#ht_500wt_1182 Thanks for looking. 7. Hello, I just did a music video on a RED with Nikon lenses. Not my first choice obviously. We have a steadicam and a crane but using Preston Follow Focus. The Assistants had a devil of a time keeping the lenses mounted. It seems that the torque from the Preston motor could very easily dislodge the lens from the mount. Has anyone else seen this problem? Is it possible the mount on the RED was bad? Unfortunately, the individual we rented the camera from boned us on our prep day and rented the camera to someone else so there was no chance to find this out of time. Kicking myself- for 20 years I've always done a prep day for gear, and the one time I don't..... Murphy's law, or some nearby corollary I suppose. Anyway, can someone shed some light on this issue for us.
  8. Hello, I'm directing a low budget music video this weekend. I own a Sony EX1, and the DP has suggested outfitting it with a Letus and using his still lenses. Before I head off to a rental house I thought I would try here and see if any private Letus owners would be interested in renting their rig to us. We have production insurance so you're gear will be completely covered while in our possession. We'll provide you an insurance certificate before pickup. The shoot is on Sunday. We'd love to pick up on Saturday and return Monday morning, or even Sunday night. Thanks all. Scott
  9. Since my first issues with the cards I have been very careful with the cards. I reformat the cards on the camera. I always turn the camera off before inserting or removing the cards. In addition, I have tried to refrain from starting and stopping recording in quick succession as I've read in posts that some others thought this might cause issues. The static discharge is an interesting thought, but we are shooting in a very arid climate with almost no humidity. Also, I would think any type of static problem would be affecting the Sony SxS cards as well. Thank you for the tip on VLC. I'll try it and let you know if it works.
  10. I'm not sure this can be linked to the Mac. The most recent card problem started in the camera. The card was formatted in the camera, then we shot with it. While still in the camera it gave the Restore Media warning, but this restore fails at 22% every time. Also, I don't think the Mac writing files to the card is an issue because I always write protect the cards before transferring. However, it is very interesting that you have a card that is unreadable on a Mac, but works on a PC.
  11. Hello Everyone, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced any problems with the MxR and SanDisk cards. I've had the MxRs for a few months now, and have now had my third major problem. The first incident occurred while shooting on a reality television show. The card showed no problems during shooting (I never got the Restore Media message), but when I tried to import on a MacBook it was unreadable. I tried several data restoration programs, and went so far as to have the Geek Squad take a look. Unfortunately, there were no salvageable files. I contacted Sony to see if they might be able to help, but obviously because it is a third party product they were unwilling. This was a pretty big disaster and although we did not lose a lot of footage in did cost me a client. I talked with Ross from eFilm and he deduced that most likely it was a faulty SanDisk card. This seemed plausible to me, but the part that bothered me was that I had used the card successfully for a couple of weeks before the failure. Currently, I am in Rwanda shooting a documentary. Last week I had another card fail. This time the card did appear in the XDCAM Transfer but several clips were corrupted. They each played for a few seconds, but would always stop at the same point. Once again it seemed plausible that the card simply had a bad sector or two. Still, I was bothered because it was a card I had been using for several weeks without a problem. I immediately took this card out of my usage rotation. Today, I have had yet another problem. The card is readable in the XDCAM transfer program, except for a 17 minute interview clip. (Unfortunately, this is a one time only interview with a convicted murderer/perpetrator of the '94 Genocide here in Rwanda). When I try to import the clip it goes to 87 percent complete and suddenly ejects the card. Because the clip is visible and plays partially I'm hoping that it is salvageable to some extent. When I insert the card in the camera it gives me the Media Restore message but the restore fails at 22% every time. The failures have occurred on three separate SanDisk Ultra II Class 4 16GB cards purchased at separate times at separate retailers. I have a few Sony SxS cards that I use as well and I have never had a problem with them so I'm certain the camera is fine. I don't feel like the MxR is necessarily to blame. However, I'm beginning to feel that if it is possible to use the SD cards recommended by the makers of the MxR and still have these types of problems I don't see how the MxR can be suitable for professional use. As I said before these were cards that I've been using for some time. Each time I've purchased an SD card I have set the camera up and recorded through the entire card TWICE and transferred these clips to insure there would be no hidden problems. At this point, I have lost all faith in the MxR's viability for professional use. Even if the problem is with the SD cards I don't see how the work flow can be usable in a professional environment. The real issue as I see it, is that these cards have failed after several dozen successful uses. If they had simply failed out of the box, upon testing, I would be more convinced of the MxR's viability. Previously, I owned an HVX200 which I used to shoot extensively throughout Asia and Africa and I never lost a single clip. The MxR was a big factor in switching to the EX1 (not to mention the sweet resolution). At this point I'm pulling all of the MxR cards out of usage and ordering additional Sony SxS cards and having them overnighted from the US. I'm extremely curious if anyone else had had any problems like this. I'm open to any suggestions for salvaging my latest card. Scott
