    Alexa vs Amira

Hello everybody, Has anyone of you made a comparative test between Alexa and Amira under the same conditions? According to Tech Specs, both cameras have exactly the same sensor. But is it possible to tell the difference between the two cameras, assuming they are using the same codec and ISO settings, the same lens and t-stop and the same lighting conditions? I´m looking forward to hear your opinions and experiences about this. Thanks, Matteo
  2. Hello everybody, I´m thinking of buying an Easyrig. What kind of absorber should I get? Considering I mainly shoot with cameras like Alexa or Epic. And do you suggest using the extended arm? Thanks in advance for your help! Best, Matteo
  3. Hello everybody, I´d love to hear some feedback about my work: www.matteo-cocco-com Since I don´t shoot commercials, you won´t find a traditional reel. I believe cinematography is more about storytelling than beautiful pictures, so I edited some kind of "Cinematography trailer" for each project, underlining the mood and feeling. Let me know what you think about it!
  4. Hi Matthew, Since I don´t shoot commercials, I decided not to edit a traditional reel. Cinematography is not about making beautiful pictures, but more about storytelling. So I decided to edit some kind of "Cinematography Trailer" for each project, which should underline the coherence of pictures within a story. Still curious to know what you think about it!
  5. Please take a look at my work and feel free to make any comments! www.matteo-cocco.com Best Matteo
  6. Hi everybody, I will soon shoot a feature with the Red Epic. Most of the movie will be shot handheld with an Easyrig. The director would like to do some occasional walk&talks or similar with a steadicam. Since we have only one camera body and are shooting on a very tight schedule, I would rather avoid to switch every time to steadicam and back to handheld in order to save time a be flexible during the shooting. Do you guys have any ideas or suggestions, considering that a Gyro system won´t work, since we´re recording sound. I mean, the camera won´t be to heavy since il be using Zeiss Highspeed lenses and a lightweight mattebox, but still I´m looking for some idea that will stylistically make a difference compared to handheld. Any ideas are very welcome! Thanks, Matteo
  7. Hi everybody! i´m looking for a database of all film festivals worldwide which include a Cinematography category, both for Short and Feature Films, documentary or fiction. Does anyone know any website? cheers matteo

  12. Hello everybody, I'm prepping for a feature film to be shot with the Red One. We've done some test shooting in September and had some worries concerning the rolling shutter. The whole opening sequence is shot from a moving Train and we don't really like how objects in the foreground look. I did some research and found out there are many Plug-ins to remove this Jellocam effect. I'm just wondering how good these software are for a theatrical release. Do you have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks a lot! Matteo
  13. Hi everybody, Do you have any suggestions to shoot with the 5D MkII in Black and White. What are the best settings? Thanks for your help, Matteo
  14. Hi Guys, I´ll be shooting some footage with the Beaulieu 4008 zm2. Does someone know the exact settings for an incident lightmeter? I know the shutter speed ist 1/86 at 24fps. But am not pretty sure about the shutter angle, also because the Beaulieu doesn´t have a "normal" rotating shutter... How do you set your lightmeter? Please respond asap!!!! Thanks, MAtteo
  15. Hello everybody, Just another question. I would like to shoot on Super 8 using my incident light meter. i just don´t want to rely on the internal one on the camera. The question is: how can I set the exposure since there´s no iris ring on the lens itself. It seems you still have to use the internal light meter also in "manual mode" and then lock the exposure without even knowing the T-stop you´re shooting at..... Any tips and ideas are very welcome! Thanks, MAtteo
  16. Thank you all guys for your help! I will definitely run a test to see what´s the best solution. Cheers, Matteo
  17. Hello guys, I´m planning a shoot for the beginning of June. Super8 seems to be the best option for the visuals of the short film. I have only one concern. I´ll be shooting with a Beaulieu 4008 super8 camera, which is very very loud. It might be hard to record sound with all that noise.... Does somebody have any ideas on how to solve that problem? Are there any kind of blimps for super8 cameras? Any help will be very much appreciated. Happy Easter to all of you, Matteo

  19. Hello everybody, Just finished shooting a short feature set in 1945 in Germany and Poland. Here´s a link to production photos I took between takes. Please take a look! http://www.flickr.com/photos/matteo-cocco/...57622988138040/ The stills were shot with a Nikon d90. The short was shot over 21 days on s16mm on Kodak Film Stock with Ultra16 Lenses. I will upload more photos in the next days, so keeping checking it out! Best Regards, Matteo Cocco - Cinematographer
  20. Does someone have any experience using the D90 for exposure references? It seems to give me results wich are very different from my sekonic lightmeter... Thanks for your help, Matteo
  21. Hello everybody, I shot this year a short feature on s16mm. The short has been transferred to Digibeta, edited and color corrected. End product: Digibeta. The film has been selected and invited to participate in the Student Competition at the Camerimage Festival in Poland. The problem is that they ONLY accept a 35mm print of the shortfilm. We don´t have the budget to pay for that. Does anyone have ideas about the specific costs and/or solutions? The short is 27 minutes in length. I would be happy if you could help me! Best Regards, Matteo Cocco
