Hi , I use to repair all types of Canon 16 and 8mm. I don't have the adapter at this moment but making a deep search on inetrnet may work. I can repair your camera for $200.00 plus shipping back to US. contact: Rolando Fernandez rfelectronic@prtc.net for more information thanks. -
Hi, this is the kowa 2x in front of a video camera http://www.prtc.net/~rfelectronic/video/cinemascope.wmv looks very nice.

Popsicle - A Completed Super-8 Short Film

Well is simple math, super 8mm is like 4x3 or 1.33:1 ratio and the anamorphic is 1.5x that will be 1.33 x 1.5 = 1.995:1 or 2:1 with some horizontal crop you cat go to 1.78:1 or HD format 16x9. Using a 2x anamorph then is 1.33 x2 = 2.66:1 or like cinemascope. -
This is a Kowa in front of a miniDV Panasonic AG-EZ1 the first 1 1/2 minutes is "film look" the rest is pure video is an 8MB safe download http://www.prtc.net/~rfelectronic/video/cinemascope.wmv shoot in the island of Puerto Rico.

Popsicle - A Completed Super-8 Short Film

Ok this is the procedure: the LA7200 is a 72mm tread, use a step-up ring for 58mm (Canon) and an additional ring extension because the LA7200 was made for DV and the clearance for the tread is limited and wont fit directly in the step-up ring, for the extension I use an old 72mm polarizer without the glass. Very important: 1- keep the anamorphic fully horizontal 2- Adjust focus and recheck anamorphic lens position 3- Avoid extreme short DoF 4- At the begining of every shoot put a perfect circular object in front of the camera (draw a circle in the slate) this will be your guide in post for 16x9 correction Super 8mm is perfect for this adapter I dont have the kodachrome test , is in Cuba but I will made another in Double 8mm cinechrome soon! I like low speed film for my tests but I will try in plus-x also. I'm working in the same setup for 16mm. -
Something like that happens to me buying a 1014 Electronic ,I overbid a little, but it was my second item for this seller and we make an "outside deal" to my top amount. From that experience I learn not to bid until the last minute.

Nice job! I like the story for your next short use the LA7200 anamorphic in front of your Canon that way the full frame resolution can be use without any aditional crop you will have HD super8mm format! 16x9 I shoot a kodachrome this mode and look superb! hope to see your next film! -
Hi, the kinescope "look" is when a film is taken in front of a tv screen (in sinc. of course) probably you can telecine using an old vidicon b&w tv camera and get some of the "look" is this what you look for? http://www.tvdays.com/images/tvarchives2.jpg

Canon 814 AZ - trigger doesn't work - Please Help!
Rolando Fernandez replied to Hans Offit's topic in Super-8
Hi , check battery contacts use fine sand paper to clean, remove cover, with batteries inserted place a 3volt mini lamp on the expose bateries and push the trigger if lamp goes a little bright motor is jam ,if no light sow on lamp is probably a false contact inside and camera has to be opened. Usualy Canon micromotors are very reliable and rarely fail. -

Hi, I will like to share my last night experiment on "aerial image" telecine using a powerfull condenser lens (plano-convex) from a projection TV gun. The quality of image capture was realy incredible and also using a fluorescent daylight source the B&W transfer was excellent and without achromatic aberrations. here are the photos:

I use to buy "as is" cameras on ebay after buying 3 canon 1014 oldies , I have found a comon problem. The springs in the battery terminals are glued not soldered! press against the metal base , so as years pass conductivity decreases and you can measure voltage but when the motor ask for "juice" simply wont start. solution is iron soldering on the spring contacts. I have disasembled one of this cameras and I'm impress by the electro-mechanical design. If some one needs help on this type of camera contact me here.

Well, shure you can the problem is how much you plan to invest base on the quality of results. when I was in high school I buit a processing room for b&w 35mm and super 8mm and I did a couple of ektachrome color processing. Color processing is a temperature critical process so I leave that to a laboratory. Black & White negative is more simple and less critical in temperature. Reversal is a little more complex because it requires re-exposing of the negative by a 500w lamp an then add a second developer. I'm planing to hand process a tri-x super 8mm and stop the process at the negative level just for a video transfer and see the results. good luck!

Canon Scoopic MS LA7200 anamorphic experiment

This is film or HD? http://youtube.com/watch?v=rA44gToFfuE

this is my vision:

Ok, remove the take-up reel an let the film drop in a bucket (use gravity) then use a sprocket gear to pull the film in an intermitent movement and place a frame holder to prevent vibrations an bending of the film. Remember cameras and projector always use intermiten movement no matter the speed.
-
Your right about the linear speed change. Well I did't mean to move the film by the take-up reel , the stepper is for moving some sprocket gear that a single pulse will position the individual frames in front of the lens. Now that I see more clearly the photos it looks like you don't use a frame guide or sprocket gear? Do the film is in constant movement or for some fraction of a second it stay still?
-
Hi, very interesting setup, for the frame jitter problem I will replace the slow gear motor by a stepper pulse controlled motor , that way your micro switch will be always in sinc with the capture time. Also you can use the stepper motor pulses as your trigger signal for the software. very nice!

After working with diferent way to DIY telecine I found this to be of a very decent quality results. http://super8todv.free.fr/ pardon my french.
