I take your point but... This is a rarer camera, it's super 8, it's smaller and it's pin registered, it also shoots 10-250fps. How many other super 8 cameras can do that? Locam are quite large and you need expensive viewfinder systems lenses to use with them.
-
Why are you being so presumptious?, I, am the seller and I'm selling it because I need the money to buy an HD camera. And I didn't buy it a few months ago either, that was a different Mekel with no accessories just the camera and it had a bad viewfinder, I had purchased it for a colleague. I bought THIS camera from a forum member. If you knew anything about this camera you'd know how much the batteries and power supplies are important and that they can cost more than the camera. Think before you post and don't jump to conclusions.

Practically all 8mm cameras are too noisy to record dialogue at close range, you need to blimp the camera to silence it, which is a whole art in itself. Just make silent films instead.

removing Beaulieu "Reglomatic" from Optivaron 6/66.

The servo-motors should be removed with no problems, it won't effect the mount. -
Kern actually made a 5.5mm Switar as well.

In my experience they don't, I have owned a 6008S and 7008PRO (without filters) and the c mount lenses I had collimated to them where not in collimation on my Fujica ZC1000. It just happens to be a quirk of beaulieu cameras that they are not exactly c mount standard. It's less notable on wide angle primes so most people don't always notice the softness as much and don't realise how sharp the image should be. -

Just unscrew it. -
I have 2 Mekels. Who would perform the modification to the gate though and how hard would it be to cut the gate and would it affect stability?

I use the Century Optics lens on both the Cinegon 10mm prime and Fujinon 5.5 mm prime with my Mekel, get no vignettting and no problems with back focus which happens more on zoom lenses. This set up is so simple and gives fantastic results plus the short focal length is hard to find in modern prime lenses for 8mm. With the 5.5 prime you get more the viewing angle of a 3-4mm lens which is quite wide for any camera. Plus you know exactly what you are composing in the shot instead of guessing. There's no way I'm gong to mess around with widening the gate on my Mekels, the danger of light leaks is too much.

These Century Optics/Schneider 16:9 conversion lenses have better glass in them than the Panasonic, at least as good if not better than most super 8 camera lenses.. I doubt super 8 has the real resolution of 1080 anyway. a lens

There is only one super 8 camera that will give you rock steady images, only 150 were made though and not all are reflex: MEKEL

Didn't he use Beaulieu cameras as well?, they can certainly be seen in the video for Cure's "Pictures of You", a 5008 & 6008. Held by the band anyway, maybe just props though. Pictures

Was it pro8mm?

Sleep Always was shot on the old discontinued Kodak Ektachrome stock. I'm sure the image was cropped in post or else shot on an anamorphic lens, but doesn't look like it.
-
That's presuming a lot, how do you know that it was a final test cart?, it could be just an early prototype. Those pictures may not be official releases.
-
I think you are underestimating the endevour, I'm sure there are a couple of hundred people in Germany alone who will be buying the cartridge, remember there will be Velvia 50D stock in it too. Many more in Europe and Worldwide will buy it too.

3 or so months? That is way too long. Bjorn sorted out an old lens and a service of my long since sold off 7008 within a week, back when I dealt with him a few years ago. He's "the" Beaulieu man to deal with.
-
Have you not tried ebay?, $3000 is a bit steep for a Beaulieu 4008, even with such an overhaul. I'd hang on to it, you may not get your money back, it's more likely you could only sell it at half the price.

It was around £1000 in the early 90's.
