  1. Thanks for the info. it was really helpful, i still think im gonna do the conversion, i Have more regular gates just in case one breaks or something while im working on it, i guess i have to deal with a little inaccuracy in the viewfinder unless i can buy a pre made ground glass, though.
  2. hey guys, I'm going to be converting a super8 camera into max8, but i cant seem to find a pre fabricated gate that i can buy, Has anyone seen anything around, If not I'm sure i can do it myself its not really that difficult, I think that Max8 will make everything easier, due to the 20% increase in the gate from 1.33 to 1.58 it wont need as much cropping for widescreen. thanks, John D. 3. if you wanted to go oldschool you could check ebay for a dat recorder.. like this one tascam DA 30 MK II i just skimmed through the list this ones a rack mount model, but i'm sure you can find a portable for under 300, that is if you want to go back to old times, well, you are shooting on Super 8 right? but on top of everything else the canon 1014XLS is synched you can just plug a mic into it, once again it wont be good quality but hey, beats spending 500$ on a Hard drive Recorder.
  4. I would say using a Bolex H16 with a Tobin TTL motor and Some Kodak 7248 stock (100T) nice slow film, for animation.
  5. it Does look like medium format, especially the bottom where the pabst blue ribbon sign is verry diffused, probabaly shot on old 120/130 film.
  6. I saw the film, really liked it, jason reitman definately got creative with his direction, i personally liked the intro, the funky artwork was pretty interesting. also, Really eclectic soundtrack.
