  1. I am selling a used Arri SRII 16mm (normal gate) camera with one good magazine, and a second magazine for parts. Included is a Zeiss 10-100mm lens. Lens has been collimated, and the camera package was recently sent to Bernie at Super 16 for a tune up. The camera has been cleaned and lubed and operation confirmed. One magazine has been gone over to make sure its ready to go. Second magazine needs parts for the doors (won't close) to be able to be used. That magazine has not had operation confirmed due to needing parts. Payment by Paypal, since I live in Canada. Camera is still with Bernie at the moment, so if you live in the USA, I can have him send it directly to you after payment has been confirmed. If not he will soon send it back to me and shipping will be from Canada at that point. Customs fees will be your responsibility. I've been told this package is worth up to $2700 US dollars, but I'm only wanting $2500 Canadian dollars to sell this package. No battery is included with this sale.
  2. Found the two selections on the base of the camera. It looks like its set to 24 fps at 60hz. Fuses I can't find my tester, so not sure if they are good. One is .75 amps and the other 10 amps. What is the voltage on those fuses? Manual doesn't state that info. They are pretty small fuses, so not sure who would be best to order them from.
  3. I'm not sure what the polarity of the pins is supposed to be to be honest. The cable was original with the battery. What kind of fuse does it use?
  4. I have noticed this camera uses a speed controller unit. Is this piece necessary to use the camera or even turn it on? It might be why I can't get mine to do anything. Any info?
  5. Not a do it yourself cable. Stock cable for the Bescor battery. 12V. Battery was charged.
  6. "XLR cable to back of camera." Yes. Forgive me, but I've never operated an Arri before.
  7. Item #172609365368 if that helps.
  8. Citizen Kane was famously known for its deep focus shots. New film stocks at the time helped them achieve that effect, along with good wide angle lenses. First movie I'm aware where they used this effect.
  9. I bought an Arri SR2 that wasn't tested. It came with a magazine. That said I hooked it up to a Bescor 12V battery. Nothing happened. I can't seem to be able to get the unit to turn on or show its getting power. Not sure how to get it to run either. Do I need the adapter piece that sets the frame rate to 24? Or will it run without it? I'm currently trying to sell the package, and would be able to sell it if I could get it running. Any help here? Look on Ebay for the SR2 package I'm selling to see pics.
  10. I have a SR2 and am debating to get it converted to Ultra 16. Is there any issues going that route vs Super 16 (other then cost)? I also got the Zeiss 10-100mm lens for my camera, but have yet to use it.
  11. I too am looking for a battery for my SR2 camera. Ebay has some Bescors for sale. The one listed shows Bescor PRB-12XLRNC Pro 12v 12amp. Will this work with the SR2?
  12. Perry- can you contact me in regards to what you decided in regards to that one problem film I had with you?
  13. Doug, It looked really good in the preview. Very dynamic shots and good use of the IMAX cameras. It was a plane dog fight which I saw. As for my own project- it has stalled. Can't get any interest in taking it on, so its going nowhere at this time. I continue to tweak the script in the mean time.
  14. Dunkirk has 100 minutes of IMAX material, far more then 5/65. Unless this is a 3 hour movie, then I could see it being 1/2 of each. I saw the preview of Dunkirk in IMAX yesterday, and pretty much all the shots I saw were full frame IMAX. That is of course what the digital projector would show, since it still doesn't fully fill the frame.
  15. Saw Rogue One last Thursday. It looked ok, but most of the movie it was too dark. I'm going again to see it in the IMAX theater today, but I'm not expecting much of an improvement. I'm happy Star Wars 9 will be entirely shot on Super Panavision 70. I always wanted to see a Star Wars movie in true 70mm.
  16. I have no access to watching film IMAX here anymore. The original IMAX theater in Vancouver (CN IMAX) closed its doors many years ago and is now a theater for a Canada Flyover experience. The remaining 3 IMAX theaters in BC (not including the Omnimax theater at Science Center) all went digital a few years ago. I was at the one in Victoria this year and they pushed their film IMAX projector to the back near the window for all to see. It is not being used anymore. The one in Richmond and one in Langley use 2K projectors now. I wish they kept the option to use their film projectors, because I really miss the old experience. The one in Langley still has the original screen, but when showing digital IMAX, it clearly doesn't fill the screen like it did with the film projector. I'd love to build a traditional IMAX theater here in my own home town, but I'm not rich like that, so its only a dream.
  17. Keep me posted Perry (by post here or email me) what your decision on the 10K scanner will be when you know.
  18. Thanks Perry. Glad to hear you guys are considering it. I wonder what your cost per foot would be at 10K? I'm sure you won't know that till later, but I'd be curious on that. I'd also wonder if you'd have to upgrade your computers to work with the 10K files. Its sure to be processor heavy in workload.
  19. Just wondering if anyone has heard of any transfer houses in North America that will be getting Lasergraphics "Director 10K" transfer scanners? It supports 8mm right up to 35mm. I don't see how 10K will help with 8mm, but it would be interesting to see the results. I am currently getting some old Super 8 scanned at 5K on a Lasergraphics Scanstation with the 5K upgrade. I also have some 16mm to do as well. Just thinking down the road.
  20. Interesting info guys. If I was building an IMAX theater today, I'd try to get an 8K laser projection in there. But the technology isn't there just yet. Getting there though. I imagine by the time its ready, many of the 2K IMAX screens will convert by then. Still nothing looks quite like film projected instead of what we have now which is basically high rez video.
  21. Thank you for your comments guys. I'm still doing research to see what is possible, but yes getting this funded has been a stumbling block. PM me if you have suggestions on that. I like the look of Plus X with its sharp grain and big contrast, especially deep blacks. Other B&W films look flat in comparison. Yes this can be fixed if a D.I. is used, but seeing if chemically produced IP and IN film can be used.
  22. What is the current resolution scanning an IMAX negative for DI use? Is it only 8K or do they have the capability now to go higher then that with IMAX? What are the film outs of the digital files back to film done at? I'm just trying to get an idea of what the current IMAX features are done at (like Star Wars) for IMAX sequences. I'm assuming to retain the full rez of IMAX, its still preferred to do an interpositive print then to interneg again? And how bad does putting a B&W neg to color interpositive look?
  23. I have read Kodak does master rolls in 50 inches by 2000 feet. How many 2000 foot rolls of 65mm would one get off a master roll? I assume 1000 feet rolls would double that? And if ordering a custom roll done up, does this mean Kodak could make whatever stock you request or does it have to be a currently made stock like all Vision 3 stocks? I'm thinking Plus X negative, as that was only discontinued a couple years ago. I would assume they still have the capability to produce it again if asked?
  24. Word has it 4 cities in Canada are supposed to show this on the 25th. Montreal and Toronto have now been listed. No word on which theater in Vancouver yet. I'm waiting to see what theater. Not sure which theater in Vancouver would even be acceptable for a film like this, as all 5 perf 70mm theaters have been closed and torn down. I have 3 weeks to find out who ends up doing this. Its great to see the excitement on here and elsewhere for 70mm from this film. Goes to show there is life still left in the format, and in the right hands, can help revive it. Its a shame that most theaters putting in the 70mm projectors won't be keeping them there. Its the only way to make sure any future films have a chance to be seen in 70mm.
