  1. Thanks for all the tips and insides on your on-set DSLRS. Being very much into Photography as a hobby, I will wait for the Nikon D400 to come out mid 2009, so I can get the D300 for cheaper! happy shooting!
  2. What Nikon do you have? I am also a Nikon dude, have been working with film SLRS up to now and want to make the step to DSLR,so will stick with Nikon!
  3. I knew all that, thanks for all the tips, but my real question, and what i really meant to ask was which camera is the best to have on set?
  4. hi all, What's a good camera to have on set, to check framing, exposure, lighting set-ups etc? I was looking a the Nikon D300 or the new Canon EOS D50 (possibly even the Nikon D90)...! Ant tips!?

  6. Thank you for all the helpful replies!! But is there an alternative to using dimers? Variacs are too expensive, as there is no budget left!!!
  7. Hi, I'm shooting on a Panasonic HDV cam this sunday. And I'm trying to fake my protagonist watching TV, I have him framed him in a CU and would like to give the impression of the TV light shining on his face. The lighting set up is very low key and this would serve as a fill light and effect when he switches the TV on as I slowly track in revealing his emotions. I have got 2 2K Moles 2 Redheads and 2 Blondes to work with! does anyone have experience in this form of effect and could give me some tips!! Thanks

  9. I'm a film student in South Africa working with the panasonic AG-HMC 154 ER this year! Just a quick question: does anyone know where i can find the manual for this camera on the internet to download. Would be really helpful!!!!
  10. I'm a film student, and mostly work with 16mm film cameras and DVX cameras. I'm looking to buy a HD camcorder to play around with off campus!! Im currently considering either the Sony HDR-SR11 or the Canon Vixia HV20. Does anyone have experience with these cameras, and could give me some buying tips? ....or should i be looking at a different camera all together?
  11. Unfortunately I can't get my hands on an 85 Filter for this shoot! I have another question.. I've now got my film stock Vision 3 Kodak 500T! What if I throw some green gels over some of the tungsten lights here and there? And do florescent lights come out green on Tungsten Film? Thanks
  12. Thanks for the tips and help David, Serge and David! I am very excited about the concept and can't wait to shoot! What do you mean by TK David Rakoczy?
  13. I'm shooting my first Film in 3 weeks. The film takes place in a medical lab/classroom and focuses on the dialogue between Medical Students and a cadaver thats being examined. I am shooting at night and inside, with an Arriflex 16m. As Film student I will have to make due with 3 lights: two 2K tungsten Redheads and one 3K tungsten Blonde, i can chose between Tungsten and Daylight Kodak Film stock. I'm going for the CSI Miami ` look; the obvious blues seen in these scenes. As I'm shooting inside I think I should take the Tungsten film stock! But I am still confused to what kind of light that will produce? <_< Should I shoot on the Tungsten stock and put CTB on my background lights?
  14. I would recommend the book.........Cinematography: Theory and Practice (Brown)
