  1. I am shooting a graduate thesis film in Orange County, CA, and we just lost our main location for the film. We are currently scrambling to find crew members who can fill in some gaps during the new times the location is available. Specifically, I am looking for a 1st and 2nd AC for Oct 22, 23, and 24. PREFERRABLY with Varicam/HD experience, but I am willing to train you. In addition I need a Best Boy Electric and Several Grips. For the BBE position I would be willing to discuss bringing you on for the entire shoot if you were interested and available. Email me and we can talk specifics. STORY DETAILS: In the tone of "Shaun of the Dead", "Evil Dead II", and "The Frightners", SOULMATES follows Barry on a blind date with a "hot blonde" who turns out to be a 70 year old woman looking for a body for the soul of her dead ex-lover. Some great gear is being used on this graduate thesis film, so it's an excellent opportunity to increase your experience. Good food and craft services, copy, and credit will be offered as payment. Here is a link to some stills from a test shoot we shot for the film a few months back. These were shot on the HVX200, but the film will be shot with the Varicam and some very expensive glass. http://www.signaturelight.com/images/cc/so.../soulmates.html Here is a link to some photos that will either be used in the film or were part of our preproduction for the film: http://picasaweb.google.com/dpfilm/SOULMAT...key=2BvO4OGCqUo Contact me at: dpfilm@gmail.com if you'd like to help out. Thanks! Dan
  2. I've got three short clips of HVX200 footage straight from the P2 card ready to post if someone has some space where I can host it. The clips are two slow motion tests and a green screen test. Does someone have some space for a 399MB zip file? All the best, Dan
  3. The footage looks great--especially considering it is compressed even further from the HD codecs. I'd love to see some native footage if someone has the bandwidth to host it.

The show will be delivered on Beta---that's where I was wondering if the framerate would become an issue. Are you suggesting I can output a 24P timeline to BetaSP and it will function properly?
  5. Are you willing to share some close-up pictures of your homemade 4x4' softbox mentioned here? I'm always interested in learning creative lighting alternatives from other professionals. All the best, Dan

Could you tell me about the use of the SDX900's 24P mode? Specifically I would like to know if there are limitations in shooting 24P when ultimately the material will be broadcast via the traditional 60i mode. With the DVX's 24P and the 2:3:3:2 you end up with 29.97 (60i?) on your tape--how does that compare with what the SDX gives you with it's 24P? Is it a similar process using 23.98? Ultimately, what I would like to know is if there is a reason NOT to use the SDX's 24P mode if the material is going to broadcast in the end.
