  1. EDIT: OK, I've just seen how far away the viewing gallery is from the launch site!
  2. Cool ok, thanks. I'm just a bit apprehensive about zooming into rocket boosters - bright light + magnification don't sound particularly eye friendly! :)
  3. Hi, I was wondering, how do you track an extremely bright object using the 'real' optics of a cine cam? In other words, how would you film a rocket launch with a super8 and not go blind looking through the viewfinder? Do you just wear some welding goggles? :D Cheers
  4. Thanks Richard, I've realised now that pro8 etc recycle stock, hence their selection. Thanks for the info on the camera too - I didn't realise the Bauers didn't read 25/100 as such. I guess it makes sense, as the Canons apply the 85 filter via a notch, whereas I think the Bauer A512 is manually engaged. So it's possible the switch would affect the light meter and not the cartridge. I'm going to shoot a comprehensive test roll of 64T and 200T so I'll see how the camera behaves. Cheers for the advice Josh
  5. Pretty sure that's the US site of super8exchange (UK site) so that's two recommendations for you Phil! They are very helpful.
  6. Hi, I think the problem might be that the avi files were uncompressed? If they were, you will have difficulty playing them from your computer. The "out of memory" message would have been referring to your RAM, not your storage space. You will need to make compressed version of the files to edit with. Then replace the footage with the uncompressed when you are exporting, so as not to lose quality. Josh
  7. EDIT: Sounds like Cinelicious are the telecine solution. Any feedback on these guys? Thanks
  8. Hi, apologies for starting another "where to buy..." thread. I did search through older posts but they all seem to be pre 2007. Basically, as the title suggests, where is the "best" place to buy super8 stock for the UK? I found Blue CineTech in another thread, but they are very limited in choice. They will do for now, as I will only be buying a few rolls whilst I get to grips with the camera - My Bauer only supports 25/100, 40/160 so I'm not sure what's going to happen with 64 or 200 etc. But what about larger orders or different stock? Also, I have plans for a 1080 or 720 transfer, but I would want it to HDD, not DV or DVD, so the facility would probably have to be in UK (to drop off HDD)? Is there anywhere in UK that does HD transfers of super8? Thanks
  9. Hi, I just bought a Bauer A512 from super8exchange.com They're based in Germany and are very helpful. Respond quickly to emails and prices seem ok (Seen many 814's go for more on eBay). They come with a 14 day return guarantee, and a 90 day warranty. I've only just ordered my camera so can't really comment, but so far they have been very good. I ordered in the evening and it was dispatched the next morning.
