  1. I agree with everything you said, completely sgree, apart from the 'clear and easy to understand story that makes sense' part. I do agree that my narrative could have been clearer in areas, but the idea was to create a very ambigious story that was complex and required concentration, that was the point. Many short films and features employ narratives like this, I don't think you HAVE to have a story that is clear and easy to understand, just as long as the audience can take something from it, and aren't completely lost. Did you feel my short didn't make sense? Cheers though Robert, I do appreciate your feedback.
  2. Hey Robert, Thanks so much for your feedback, all very interesting points, lots to work on for the next film! In your opinion, how would you create mood in the opening scene of him sat in the chair in the living room? He is lost in thought, but we are unaware of why until we actually reach the end of the film. Thanks again, James
  3. I need some advice about finding work in a facilties company in the States. I'm currently working for a faciltiies company in Central London and would love to live and work in America. I'm going to start contacting companies but thought I'd try and get some advice on this first. Does anyone have any experience working in kit rooms, specifally in California? Thanks, James
  4. Hey Robert, Thanks for your thoughts, could you go into a little more detail about the editing and shot choices etc? I agree about the acting on his behalf, what didn't you like about the storyline? I'd love to get some constructive critism regarding these points. Cheers!
  5. Hey Gregg, thanks for watching. That's a really interesting point, I'd never considered that it had actually already happened, and when he goes up stairs he's already done it, that'd put a very interesting spin on the conversation he has with the girl. The main critiscm I have recieved is that it isn't clear enough what he is feeling, and people have struggled to understand what they just saw when the end titles appear, but you seem to have totally grasped the concept. But I like your idea of showing more of the story through emotions, and less through an almost lecture type monologue from the girl at the door. I do with think with a rather complicated story as it is, playing with a non-linear timeline may have been too confusing, the actual point of the story may have been lost. I'm sure David Lynch would think otherwise though! Cheers though Gregg, I appreciate your comments. James
  6. I've just finished shooting this short, shot on the 5D, please let me know what you think, thank you!
  7. I've just finished making a short film, shot on the 5D. I'd really appreciate some feedback, if you have the time that'd be amazing! Cheers!
  8. Hey man, nice work! I really liked it, what did you shoot it on? Few things I did notice, the shot of Jason, especially in the tight shots seemed a little blown out, around his collar? Perhaps a few stops too open? Then the reverse is a little better exposed, you can also see loss of definition around the highlights on his forehead. I liked the story as well, it's a fun dynamic to play with. Have you seen the film Coffee and Cigerettes? There's a scene with Steve Coogan and Alfred Molina which is very similar to your idea, check it out. Hope this helps! I've just finished a shoot I wrote and directed, would you be able to have a watch for me? Thanks! James
  9. I've just finished a new short film, shot on the 5D. I was hoping for some feedback, if you only watch a few minutes, I'd be hugely appreciative. Thanks.
  10. I understand interlaced and progressive scan, and what 1920x1080, 1280x720 etc means when you're shooting, what I was hoping someone could fill me in on what it REALLY means. If anyone has a definitive answer, I'd be hugely appreciative because at the moment it's slightly confusing me. Thanks, James
  11. I've seen Visions Of Light, what is Cinematography Style like? It's also really difficult to buy here in the UK, i heard the negatives are that it is just interviews and has no actual footage, worth watching?
