  1. Driven by change of DP I would assume - Deakins has become quite fond of digital of late, but Hoyte is a pretty strong film advocate I believe. I am sure Sam was probably indifferent. Anything that keeps film alive is good for me as it means cheap stock will keep coming onto the market :)
  2. For anyone finding this, the error code relates to a knackered internal battery
  3. Hi all I have a 535 here (not the B, the original) and it was working fine for five minutes, now throwing an "E.008" error code. Anyone happen to know what that means? Also anyone know how to rotate the image on the original F-1 finder? James
  4. I bought this kit for a director I work with, who then decided he wanted something else instead. So I now have to move it on. This is a four-piece Litepanels kit, with the original 1x1 panels - not knock-offs and not the cheaper "LS" models. In the kit: 2x Litepanel 1x1 Flood 2x Litepanel 1x1 Spot 4x Stands 4x Universal Power Supples 4x 5m Power Cables 4x 5m Extension Cables Selection of gels and diffusion for the above (Litepanel genuine hard plastic ones) 1x Dimmer 1x Rain Cover 1x Hard Case Asking £2,500 + VAT and Shipping, or approx $4000 USD plus shipping. Can ship worldwide

  6. I don't know why but the price should have appeared in the title, price is £1,995 - I don't expect them to hang around long.
  7. Hi Guys I'm trying to clear room in my lock-up so I have a few 435s that need shifting. These are basic kits - camera, IVS, finders, extension, grip, remote, plus 3 400' mags. All cameras have been tested, mags are scratch tested, all working A-OK. Superb starter kit or piece of art for your living room. I also have ONE camera available with an anamorphic finder but that's another £1,000. Please get in touch for pics or postage details. I can post worldwide. Located in the UK, price does not include UK VAT at 20%. No offers.
  8. The Cooke 18-100 is a beautiful, stunning lens, but it is big, requires big filters, and is impractical as a sole lens. i used to have a set of Zeiss standards, I loved them, but they do have a classic feel and I don't believe they'll cover the Dragon sensor properly. Not sure the others would either TBH
  9. Isaac, when you do hit me up :) I think the industry here is doing fantastic, like you said I can now get film cheaper and better than ever before - it's fantastic.
  10. I can still buy Fuji stock, and they stopped making film two years ago. Film is still alive, but a lot of rental houses are downsizing and that is where some of these cameras came from. Rental houses made their money back on this ages ago, hence it not being that expensive now. It's also not the latest model, which would be the 435 Xtreme, but for anyone starting on 35mm, practising, students, or just wanting an amazing piece of art for their room, its a bargain
  11. Of course, the question is also, given the cost of getting these lights inspected by somebody, is it really worth the cost savings by getting either ARRI, or a reliable and known alternative, eg. Filmgear? I'm sure the answer for most people would be no...
  12. Update for the above. PRICE DROP = £3000 now This is a serious bargain, you cannot buy these anamorphic finders alone for this price, let alone a complete package. I also just noticed I omitted to mention the package includes 3x 400' 435 Magazines which have been scratch tested and are good!
  13. The problem with companies like these, they are selling to people who either can't afford or don't know the benefits of higher quality gear. And most of those people will never notice these manufacturing defects until it is too late. For companies like these, I think once they have your money, they don't really care what happens...
  14. KIT SOLD - Still left, ARRIFLEX 535B
  15. Extremely few.... only really the NFTS, but the thing with there is that they don't really take people fresh out of uni/school - it is more for people with a little experience under their belt. The Met Film School does teach some proper stuff, but the poor staff have an uphill battle with the powers that be - a familiar tale at many schools I'm sure.
  16. Just used this camera on a short earlier this week. Performed flawlessly. Pictured here with 1000' mag (optional extra!)
  17. The fights in Gladiator used a high shutter speed too, although I can't remember exactly which. I have used it for a couple of fight sequences, especially lower budget ones actually. The higher the shutter speed, the less "time" you are capturing in the image - meaning punches, etc... are less likely to be caught out when you're faking them. I've also used it in a couple of sequences with VFX to give the post guys a slightly easier time doing keys, when it was artistically appropriate.
  18. I think Panavision had the US TV market wrapped up a long time? But in case you were wondering, the stock used at the time is going to have a much bigger impact on it than the camera. Lenses too. You might be able to track down one of the show's DoPs, or find an old article on it in ASC magazine to get your answers?
  19. If you buy a lens second hand, you will not lose much money when you sell it (provided the lens doesn't develop a bad rep). I actually made money on a couple of my DSLR lenses, so buy wise and you'll be able to change your mind without regretting it :)
  20. Native resolution is, I believe, 960x540, or quarter HD. The socket on it is a Sony VF socket, but I believe it is driven by an analog HD feed - I can't comment how easy it would be to modify. They work on basically any high end camera Sony made from 2000 to now, only the F5/55 have started using something else but there are compromises. James
  21. The above camera was due to be sold, but is now available again after the buyer let me down. If anyone is interested please let me know.
  22. For sale from my F65 kit, as I do not need it, a C30WR in excellent condition. One tiny chip from the bottom of the unit, in a corner, screen is in excellent shape with no dead pixels. £3,500 plus VAT, no VAT outside the EU.
  23. In my experience it is very much a taste thing. I know one director who considers a 35mm to be "a wide" and another who considers a 25 to be "quite tight"
