  1. Hi, My opinion on using still photography lenses Advantages: a) you can buy them or rent them quite cheap. b Quality is extremely high with high end Full frame Zeiss, Nikon and Canon lenses. always get fast high end lenses. c) No modifications required. Issues a) Not made for film style shooting: Zoom and Focus not ergonomic in a film way of shooting. b Still Photography zoom ranges are not optimal for film shooting. My opinion on using PL lenses advantages a) choice of lenses rental: no limits b High ergonomic factor: you shoot faster, you can employ film crews. Issues a) high rental price tag for high end lenses. If you rent cheap PL lenses you're better of with still photography lenses. b not owning the lenses mean you can not experiment at home. I personally opted for high end still photography lenses and am quite happy. You need to invest in a Follow focus and a matte box exactly like you would for PL lenses. You can totally work in a professional film style with these lenses.
  2. http://www.repaire.net/news_tests_tutos/te...t_200905131980/ This is the most interesting article about the Panasonic HPX 300. Very independent opinion. only problem is its in french. If u don't read french, the article says that 1. The HPX301 is too noisy. A lot noisier than the EX1 2. The recording format (422 10 bits) of the HPX-301 isn't as good as expected (the author compares shots with the EX1) 3. The HPX-301 has an excellent definition. One of the best around 4. The HPX-301 is very ergonomic compared to the EX-1 5. The supplied optic is ok but notbgreat. Conclusion Noise is a real issue. Camera Body is truely nice. Complete I/O options (2x HDSDI for example).
  3. What about a post with people posting their experiences with low cost interview lighting sets Here is my experience 1. MY EXPERIENCE WITH KINOFLOW I bought Neo-Lite 220 DX (600USD) which is a dimmable 4 banks Kino copy (light output 55Wattsx4 daylight and tungsten balance) It works fine with interviews. Light weight and very similar to real Kinoflo. Fluorescent lighting in my opinion is never as good as incandescent soft lighting for skin tones. Kinoflos don't have flags so it isn't exactly as controllable as dedolights for example. Conclusion: Good less expensive than real Kino but same quality (i also often work with real kinoflos) http://www.yegrin.co.kr bought through http://konovaphoto.com/ 2. DEDOLIGHT SP3 Tungsten Lighting kit (USD 2900) 3 lights kit 1 soft and 2 focusable 3x 150Watts Dedolight lights are very efficient and the colorimetry is outstanding. The system is quite expensive but really easy to move around. Construction build is also outstanding. Light output is ok for close shooting of one or max 2 people, nice backlight thanks to a very controllable focus. Conclusion: Good, more expensive but worth it. http://dedolight.com 3. KONOVA 2x 800w Redhat and softbox KIT (USD 360 with the softbox option) This is the most cost efficient system I ever bought. The only problem is the build quality which is barely acceptable. You have to be very careful not to be too brutal with theses lights. But nevertheless you get very good power output. The Softboxes are huge and very pleasant. You can easily apply colour conversion gels like any readhat lights. The light is supposedly focusable but in reality don’t count on it. Conclusion: Very fragile lighting kit, but because of the price point I still like it very much. Just bare in mind that you might have to buy a new set every other year!! http://konovaphoto.com/
