  1. I have an Elmo GS-1200 that was never heavily used. However, about 5 years ago it stopped running. It powers up but the transport motor doesn't activate when the forward button is pressed. I changed the fuse, but it didn't help. I don't think the motor is burned out because it wasn't that heavily used. I suspect something is awry in the circuitry. I have contacted Elmo, but I doubt they are interested in fixing this old equipment (at a reasonable price anyway). I am looking for a true Super-8 gadget geek that has done this type of repair in the past. Any ideas out there? Thanks!
  2. I enjoyed using the one I had. I haven't used it in eons and just recently gave it away to a non-profit media center. I had the 1014 xls. The lens is a beautiful 10 to 1 zoom. The optics were some of the best made for super-8. The only mechanical problem it had was the built in dissolve broke down at one point. I took it to Canon Headquarters in LA and they fixed it. That was in the 80s. The sound quality is excellent. I produced many movies of my kids as well as an experimental film that heavily used the time lapse capabilities of the 1014. Some of the imagery was absolutely stunning. I shot 12 hour periods of the sky from sunrise to sunset. The key naturally is not the camera but what it is pointed at. No matter how good your camera is, it is the light that comes in the lens that matters. However, this camera was definitely up to the task when the light was there to be captured. Hope that helps.
