  1. Sounds like one of the cameras is one field (1/2 frame) out of synch from the other. This may due to cable lengths affecting the propagation of gen lock signals to one or the other camera. Most studios would lock the cameras to the burst or synch gen via equal lengths of cable, or delay lines. Can't think of any other reason.
  2. Ditto here too! I need a manual as well. Does Spectra still support this classic? I could use a new "25" slide too.
  3. I recently purchaed some 16MM blooping tape from Christy's, both the sountrack and picture versions. I find that the tape I acquired is too thick. The thickened film, with the tape applied, doesn't run well in my projectors, or in the printer. I tried 3M™ type 8422 and it's perfect! http://www.shop3m.com/70009272025.html It's the perfect thickness for both picture and sound. The problem with it is that it's a bit wide, and hard to use and handle easily. Anyone have any altenatives? Anyone else use blooping tapes?
  4. Theoretically should work. The only issue I can think of is that the extra perfs may be causing a jittery loop? What camera did you use it in?
  5. I have an Arri 16M, and this is what I use with it quite successfully. It's available at B&H for under $600. and easily handles a 33lb camera. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4110...deo_Tripod.html
  6. I have an Arri 16BL, and this is what I use with it quite successfully. It's available at B&H for under $600. and easily handles a 33lb camera. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4110...deo_Tripod.html
  7. I need a screw-on lens-cap for my Angenieux 9.5-57mm ZOOM. Or, where can I get one?

  9. I need a Matte Box for my Arri 16M. Who has a spare one? or, where can I get one?
  10. ;) Back to the original topic!! OK - so I received the first of my two new Arris; my Arri M. Very nice! So it looks like I'm going to need a few bits and pieces for it. I'm going to start a new thread on my Arri wants.
  11. Yup, I'm here too! ;) But as I'm originally from Montreal, I think we're missing a big bet by ignoring Montreal, which has a huge film community, and a few film schools as well.
  12. It didn't come with spreaders, or at least none were mentioned nor appeared in the pictures. How often do spreaders come up for auction, and what should I look for? I have already looked for new spreaders at B&H, which I've found, but don't know how compatible those are? Somehow, I don't think I'm ever going to get that ambitious in film-making to need high-hats or baby legs! ;)
  13. As I'm only an amateur cinematographer (though I would say a serious, even expert amateur - I have been doing amateur cinematography for over 40 years!), I'm not a pro, and don't believe I will be doing any pro work, any time soon! ;) I'm a happily retired RF and communications engineer, and cinematography is one of my many avocations. I took film-making and cinematography in college and university, and then continued in engineering (went back to school). My plan was to be a broadcast engineer in television, which I succeeded in doing. But... ya never know! :P
  14. I just a bid in on a classic Spectra P-251 on eBay! I am seriously considering the Sekonic 358A and the Spectra Pro IVA and looking longingly at the 758C. My problem with the 758C is that it's way more meter than I'll ever need and it's a bit out of my budget.
  15. Thank you for the eBay tip, we won that auction! Cool! Now I actually own an Arri tripod! Thanks for the tip! ;)
  16. I need a new lightmeter. What would you recommend as a useful and practical lightmeter for most film-making applications? Again, I'm on a budget.
  17. Got it and responded. I know! Most have gone over to video; those who are still shooting film (for it's specific aesthetics) are shooting S16. Not me, I'm "old school" and will stick with 1.33:1!!! ;)
  18. Excellent. Thanks John and Tim. Tim, I have your website bookmarked already, but don't have any contact info on you, nor contact info for Axel Broda; could I get those, please? T I A Ed
  19. I will shortly be receiving two newly purchased but used Arriflex cameras, an Arri 16BL and an Arri 16M, and will need to get them both checked out. I need the names of reputable Arriflex repair depots in North America. Preferably, I'd like them to be in Canada, where I live, but failing that, any good repair depot in the U.S. will suffice. Any suggestions?
  20. Sigh... Our Beaulieu R16, which we won on eBay finally showed up today. Boy is it ever in rough shape! Looks like that old addage... "Been rode hard and put away wet". I'll say!!! Both the camera body and the lens look beat up and in sore need of TLC and major restoration. I have pictures, but at the size I'd want to display them here, the abuse would not be very evident. I'm not going to display them normal size as that would be a massive waste of bandwidth. We'll be talking to Jean-Louis Seguin who works on this gear professionally in Montreal, and see what he says. Beside Bernie's contact info, I have a few other camera and lens repair places filed and will be talking to them. Next up... getting my new Arri's checked out! (Over to the Arri forum we go...)
  21. In my professional life, I'm a communications engineer! When I spec a link, it better be accurate or I get to re-do at at my cost! And my cost may include any new equipment to reach point-to-point!
  22. Yeah... I was allowing about 20lbs for the camera, mag and film. I will assume that the 16M is lighter, as it has no blimping. Unfortunately, a bathroom scale will do me no good, as I don't have these Arris in my possession yet! I have chosen a suitable tripod that will handle these cameras: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4110...deo_Tripod.html The tripod will handle up to 33lbs and costs about $600. which is well within my limited budget.
  23. Trés cool! We bid on it! As an alternative, I believe I will purchase this tripod: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4110...deo_Tripod.html It will handle up to 33 lbs, so it should handle any ciné camera I put on it. And, it's comparatively cheap - only about $600, which fits my budget.
  24. These are excelllent resources, thank you. I am aware of Bernie, who has contacted me already. I will keep Duclos on file in case of need, as well as Abel Cine.
