Hi all,
I'm planning on shooting a short film on S16 soon and I have managed to get my hands on a few cans of Eastman EXR 200T 7293 as well as Vision 200T 7274 film stocks. They're new cans,(not short ends), but its stock from 2004. It has been kept well.
My question is what the main difference between the 2 film stocks. I understand that the 7274 was brought on to replace the 7293. Been doing some research on it and I believe that the Lord of the Rings trilogy( although I read that at the time 7274 was out but they chose to stick with 7293), city of god and Little Budha by Vitaro Storaro (I think) was shot on the 35mm equivalent, 5293. 7274 was used in Factory girl although I am not sure exactly for which parts of the movie since the used quite a number of film stocks on that film.
I will be shooting the first part of the film with Vision 3 but the aesthetics of the film as discussed with the director requires a somewhat dated and "punchier" look. Its a question of either or and will have to choose either the 7274 or the 7293.
I know the magic word is test but due to the availability of the camera and the budget that is unfortunely beyond me. Been also trying to get my hands on the "Pictorial Spreadsheets"(with varring exposure values within the frame), if thats what they call it but can't seem to find it online, just the technical spread sheets.
Any advise would be great. Thanks.
