  1. Hi guys... Do you know in LONDON, or UK, where there is a facility to telecine ULTRA 16mm films?
  2. Thanks the replies, guys. Yeah, when it comes across different bodies, the opinion vary, a lot. I heard there's some problem with Bolex cameras... BUT, if you notice, its the most "popular", or should I say... affordable camera bodies. But they work really nice, especially the best models... EL, the one i'm buying. Simon... Do you mean a REX Bolex would be a better model than the H16? Actually, the few articles I red about the REX, says they're a very very desirable. I thought to buy an eclair.. But they are pricey. To play around a bit, I thought aboutthe beaulieu, that I know its not an Eclair... But it does an awesome job. Problem is converting to Ultra 16... I mean, I HEARD bernie mentioning something here in the forum about the beaulieu does not reach the FULL conversion to Ultra 16... Or at least I understood that. Do you guys know something about?
  3. Hi everybody. And TIM... Please explain "Use Kodak 7217, (Vision2 200T), frame for 16x9 on the ground glass, and shoot your movie". In a 16mm camera, does that gives the 16:9 aspect ratio? Asking because I'm thinking to convert a Bolex camera I;m buying to Ultra 16... The only problem is the telecine here in UK... Not sure if actually exists somewhere. :P I do agree soem things are crazy... But I do think its worths the effort and investing... The aspect ratio 1.85:1 is unbeatable. Convencional 16mm and even Super 16mm really does not convince me anymore.... Seems i;m watching TV, not a film (apart from the lovely grain texture any 16mm film gives, of course)
  4. I meant.. .GET A BOLEX ELECTRIC AND A WINDSPRING
  5. Thanks, Bernie. Yeah, I was thinking about the same... The Beualieu R16 is a beauty, though... Still unsure, guys... Should I get 2 Bolex then? Then I wouldn't have much problems? I mean. If I woudl make the conversion, I'd really want to have the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Not ALMOST.... If I do that, I was thinking on getting one Beualieu electric and another Windspring... It could be very handy. to have one, that still could have an electric motor adapted... Then should I leave the Beaulieu and Eclair for later?
  6. Jeez, Brian, This is the BEST feedback I ever read in this forum (I'm not here a long time, but anyway). Nice one. I loved a Eclair footage I watched on Viemo, but I can't find anymore... It was really really great, think maybe because its crystal, not prism...). It was seriously impressive. I'm buying a Bolex EL, with Kern Verio Zoom lens. And will buy some primes after, and yet, thinking to buy a Beaulieu R16 (so I have a "HANDHELD" option to use when shooting with Bolex is difficult), after all, will convert both to Ultra 16mm... Anyway, I digress... About this, would you mind to answer a question I posted today here? Think you have the answer I need. http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=47330&pid=328656&st=0entry328656 As for this post, I'd have another question: Putting ECLAIR x BEAULIEU R16, which one you guys think would win the race? :P
  7. Ok, I'm a Rookie on Cinematography, and some details I still have no clue on what to do regarding the 16mm cameras/lenses. I'll buy a Bolex EL Super 16mm (Body) with a Kern Switar H16 RX 100MM And a Beaulieu R16, with the usual Angenieux Zoom lens. (Then will convert both to Ultra 16mm) Well, what I need (and is my question) is to choose a 2 SETs OF 3 PRIME LENS each that would be wise choice for each (i know most of lenses coudl work on both with c-mount adaptor). I was thinking to have a 10mm/25mm and 50mm set for one camera and a 5mm/16mm and another 25mm for another - in case of shooting with both cameras at the same time, I could use the 2X 25mm lens (one on each)? Maybe the 25mm one would be best to have 2, as I could use more on shots of dialogue, etc? Or maybe 2 of 50mm? I'll buy them all used, of course. And regarding the brand to choose, probably Kern-Paillard ones? Anyway, this is what is in my mind now and maybe I'm on a "trip inside a maionese" (like we say in my country)...I mean, maybe makes no sense what I'm intending and I'm kind of lost? I know its a lot of question in one, sorry, but I need some LIGHT! :P Thanks all.
  8. Hi Chris. Thanks for your answer. I'll have this camera set: http://cgi.ebay.com/BOLEX-EL-SUPER-16-16MM-MOVIE-CAMERA-REX-ZEISS-ARRI-RED-/280443258186?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item414bb8854a But I'll ask to change that lens for this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280514842993&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT So, first I want to know if I'm doing a good thing on changin it. And also, regarding the BOLEXES... Are that older models that work with 3 lenses mounted together a good deal to have? Like this older: http://cgi.ebay.com/Pailliard-Bolex-H-16-Reflex-3-Lenses-/120577042801?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Film_Cameras&hash=item1c12f3a971 Or the EL mount is REALLY good and have only one lens mounted? And I'm doing right to ask to change for that other lens? Thanks agian and sorry my ignorance. Best, Flavio
  9. Hi Eric, What do youstill have? Specially the Electric Beaulieu. Do you have it complete, witjh battery and original angenieux lens? Thanks Flavio
  10. ERM... SORRY, again.. I meant I'll adapt this camera to ULTRA 16mm Thanks again, neeed to be sure of what I;m doing . Ta, F
  11. Hi Chris! Thanks loads for your help. Im a bit confused, sorry, still learnign many things. Thing is, and my doubbt, maybe you can help on my decisions; I have a TRADE of services, and I'll have this camera in exchange: This Bolex camera, EXCEPT the lens: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280443258186&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT - And the lens would be this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280514842993&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT My question is: AM I DOING IT RIGHT? THE LENSES IMA ASKING TO BE CHANGED CAME WITH THE C-MOUNT ADAPOTR AND I'lL BE HAPPY WITH MY DESISION? After I have the material, since its the best decision I can do, I'll ADAPT this camera to SUPER 16. So, think now you know what I'm intending. Please, let me know yourthought, if I should change for the other lens, if i'll have the best I can. And if I SHOULD ask to change for the other lens. And HOW i could have the prime lens. ANYTHING! Thanks a lot! Flavio
  12. Hi again. Now I got it. You mentioned prime lenses would be ideally better than having the zoom lenses, isnt it? I agree, but I would have one or another of that ones anyway, only want to know which to choose. Then after I can buy some prime ones... And you're right, it is too expensive that price. But that is an OFFER price, the kit would come less than $2000 I believe, if I make an offer. And regarding the MOUNT, is that EL mount a good one? The seller said its the same model still manufactured today by Bolex, of course, only an old version. Guys, any tips from you that know about it, the better equipment I can get, so thanks since now. Flavio
  13. Hi Chris Thanks for that. So, u reckon that lenses (http://cgi.ebay.com/...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT)are ideal for the Bolex body I'm intending to buy? Though, if I got it right, you think its TOO expensive? Is that it? If that lens still is no the ideal to have with that Bolex body, which one you recommend when u mentioned "ints not nears as nice as the primes". Sorry, maybe I didnt figure out what u mean... I really want to have a Bolex EL original with the original lenses, or close to it. Thanks F
  14. Hi all. Im in the process to buy a Bolex like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280443258186&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT But that lenses are not that good I think. The KERN SWITAR H16 RX you guys are referring to, would be this one one of the good ones? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280514842993&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT If still there's a better KERN SWITAR H16 RX lenses model that you reckon would work best, please let me know! Its important info I need asap, before I buy it. Thanks! Flavio
