  1. Hi Will. In the PDF you sent me, says "is also available in the 41mm Bayonet mount". :) So the lens is real. My concern as it's a PL is to actually use in a BMCP camera properly. But in this page our fellas already say it would be fine. It's just that is expensive. So it makes me wonder a lot before buying it. Thanks. F
  2. Hello all. Thanks loads to everybody for your answers! Will, this is what the ad says. Arri Zeiss 11-110 Bayo Mount + PL Adapter. Sorry. Not sure what you mean by "You sure"? You think that the lens in actually a conversion? I've read somewhere that exists bothPL and BAYO mounts of this lens. Thanks.

  4. Hey Brian. Thanks a lot for your answer. In regards to value, is there any difference of price between the mounts? I mean, nowadays a 11-110 Zeiss like this with a Bayo mount would worth less than a PL mount? I'm divided between buying the Zeiss 11-110 S16, or continue to invest on Still Zeiss primes (I have a 85mm and will buy a 21mm soon on eBay). Or actually go for BOTH (megalomaniac). I'm so so divided as this is such an expensive lens. And I'd be using it for a documentary soon, so would work great for sure. Tempting. Do you know any good affordable alternatives to use with the black magic pocket cam? I'm looking for pro glass, but in my view all ends up to Zeiss. :P Anyway, almost digressing here. Any tips of lenses for the black magic pocket are very very welcome Thanks, Flavio
  5. Hello all. I'm considering buying an Arri Zeiss 11-110 Zoom Lens to use with with my Pocket Camera. The thing is that it's ARRI BAYO mount. It comes with a Bayo-PL adapter. I'd have to use a PL-M43 adapter to be able to use it. IF that is possible without causing problems? I mean, teorically would be possible, but would that really work? If not, would it be possible to convert this mount to a PL Mount? Thanks all.
  6. For lists, I think this is the best list, so far: http://www.blackmagicuser.net/topic/441-lenses-for-pocket-cinema-camera-bmpcc/
  7. Hello everybody again. Have a question now about the ANGENIEUX Prime Lenses. I'm guessing by the amount of watchers on eBay on the R41 Series of Angenieux Primes, that those might be the best (also there's the M1, but way more expensive). But how are they compared to the Kern Lenses? I'm in between buying a new set of Kern "AR or any that are not RX", or start a new set of Angenieux Primes. My dilemma is to where put my money on, to have a decent set with the quality of Kern, or slightly better. I know the SLR Magic are really good. But honestly, the footage I saw, they're mostly like Kerns in quality (I might be being a bit optmistic toward Kerns). To resume the opera. I've seen lists and lists of budget 16mm lenses for the BMCCP. But there's not many. Or many "so so" in the list. If not 16mm, any suggestions of S16mm lenses, mostly PRIMESm, unless there's any AWESOME Zooms, Angenieux or not? Sorry, many questions in one, but I believe I'mve made clear I want some reliable options :P
  8. "The RX RULE is reversible. RX-mount lenses will work well on C-mount cameras provided that they are stopped-down past f/3.2" As it says here:http://city-net.com/~fodder/bolex/truth.html But still sucks!!!!
  9. Hello. Yes, I'm starting to read those and is freaking me out! I was hoping to use the RX lenses I have. But seems now they're not worth to be used. Does anyone know more about this? Thanks,
  10. Hello, people! Since this thread is about 16mm lenses to black magic pocket, I thought to ask around about MOUNT ADAPTERS. I'm looking for a C-Mount to M4/3 and a PL to M4/3 adapters. But I need to look for reliable BRANDS, as it's crucial part in the gear. Anyone knows of the best adapter manufactures around?
  11. Hey Will. Yep... That's what I'm afraid of. The seller was a camera shop in Praha. It's said it was a demo lens. Already contacted Zeiss in Germany. They requested Serial number which I sent. Now I'm anxiously waiting for an answer. I'll be using this lens in a charity feature doc. And will request Zeiss to fix the lens as a sponsorship... Let's see. Fingers crossed... Even if the fixing would cost $2000, yeah, I still would be ahead. Although have no means to pay this amount now. But it might be possible that they took an element or two from the lens to save another. They said element missing, but they "don't know which element is". Weird, huh? Anyway, I'm waiting Zeiss feedback to decide if I actually pay for the item or if I sell it back for the same price. Thank, Will. F
  12. Hey Will. Just id the most crazy thing. Bought a Zeiss Sonnar 11-110 Zoom 2.2 DEFECTIVE... For USD1200 No idea what's the problem with it. There's scratches on glass and an element missing, all I know. Any rough idea about fixing it with Zeiss? I sent a request already, but just trying to figure how crazy was my deal :P It would probably be chage the front and rear glass, cleaning and lub. Thanks, F
  13. Thanks, Will. I'm looking into some S16 options as I'd be covered in full... I just don't know the difference between the "Zeiss 11-110" and the Zeiss 11-110 "VARIO SONNAR"? Which model is newer? What is the difference between them?
  14. Also... As I have two Schneider Lens a 10mm and a 16mm in PRISTINE condiition (they really are). How much would they worth, roughly? WIll put some really cool 16mm stuff to sell on eBay... Very soon. Thanks, F
  15. Hello. In teresting post. I have a Schneider 16mm... Do you reckon it would fit a S16mm sensor? like the BMCCP? Also, in a post above is mentioned the kinopitik 5.7 16mm lnses... Does that cover a S16mm sensor too? This is what I got from the post... Thanks, F
  16. Hi WIll. Thanks a lot for your answer. I'm looking into the Zeiss Extender to use in that lesn. A seller said that is possible to get an extender to connect in the lens and it would work from 20-200? I'd have to add a adapter for the BMCCP too... I wonder if that would actually work and the seller said it right? Which Extender are we talking about in this case? Please let me know. Thanks, Flavio
  17. Think I better simplify my question. And that lens are gone anyway, I didn't bet (damn!) Seems the usual Zeiss Zoom to get on eBay would be these: Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar 10-100mm T/1.8 MKII T* Carl Zeiss11-110mm Zoom Super16 Lens T2.2 Carl Zeiss 10-100 zoom lens 1.8 PL I know the last one is a 11-110 and S16, but is T2.2... And the others are both T1.8. But are 16mm, being one is a Vario-Sonar. All would produce great images. Just trying to figure out the main difference and pros/cons, or spot one that is not worth to be used in the BMCCP. Or even in the 4k using from 20mm up? Thanks again, Will!
  18. Thanks, WIll. yeah, Zeiss is a Zeiss ain't it? I wonder about your model, or the 11-110mm Zoom Zeiss S16 T2.2. And still there's the 10-100 Zoom Zeiss too: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carl-Zeiss-Vario-Sonar-10-100mm-T-1-8-MKII-T-B-Mount-Cinema-Lens-/170957112397?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item27cdd6844d My second option wold be: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251244933100?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 This guy answered me saying: This lens has Arri Bayonet Mount, PLus PL mount adapter. The Extender is Bayonet Mount, You can either buy 4/3 PL adapter or Bayonet to 4/3. Is that so? Just to understand, the lens then would work in it's full mode on any m4/3 camera? In either case, I'm trying to figure out which lens would produce the sharper images.... Without need to convert the second option, so I save money too... Thanks once more and sorry to make so many questions. :P
  19. Hello. Very interesting post. I was wondering the difference between AR and RX lenses and now it's clear for me, thanks. I'm considering buying a Kern 75mm AR, but in terms of quality and sharpness of image, would itbe any differen to buy a normal or a AR one? Maybe the AR have inferior image quality due to quality of glass as they're older?
  20. Hello Justin. Good I found this post of you from 4 years ago. I own a Kern Vario 16-100 POE and I'm considering convert it to PL mount to use with my BMCCP... I was thinking to invest a large sum and buy a Zeiss 11-110 myself, but seeing your post and the video footage, I'm quite impressed with our results. I agree is a very underrated lens. I have used it on a 16mm film and the result was very good although I got only dailies, so no best light, and was shot on a Bolex. Anyway, do you have any more footage to share? We could exchange some info regarding the lens. I'll shoot a doc soon, so will need to update my knowledge on this baby. Thanks, Flavio
  21. Exactly. And I'm with my stuff for so long and barely used them. I feel for having to sell, but anyway, digressing again... WIll, I think you're probably the best one to ask this as you own the Zeiss lens and the footage I saw from it is simply AMAZING even for a Zoom lens... I was always more a Prime lens guy, but when it comes to Zeiss, things change drastically. I'm divided between: 1. I crossed one Zeiss 11-110 S16 to buy, and I'd like to know how does it differ from yours converted 20-200? (apart from being s16 and has the advantage to reach 11mm, so it's wide and still faster, 2.2f/stop). I'm trying to find footage of the 11-110 for comparison... OR... 2. Buy a 50mm and a 75mm Kern Switar RX Primes, those will reach the price US$ 1.200,00 together. Plus the 25mm Kern I own, I will have the ideal 3 primes for my shorts and documentaries (although will demand more hard work and planning for shooting). I know there's no comparison between a Zeiss and a set of Kern primes, but I'd like to hear from a pro anyway. My intent is to shoot short films using the bmccp, BUT possibly a feature next year, and a documentary in between. The documentary would benefit from a ZOOM lens, of course, but regardless, I'd like to hear your thoughts, 'cause it would be a 3X more expensive investment, and I'd sell almost everything to buy one Zeiss 11-110 S16. Thank you. F
  22. I spoke with Les Bosher today. And asked about the lens I have and compatibility. He told me that is possible to convert the BAYO Kern 10-100 POE to a M4/3 mount end. He's unsure about price, but I believe it would be reasonable and he is a fantastic fella. My new question: Regardless price, would it worth it? I've used the Kern on a 16mm film in the past. Quite good I think. But I've seen many people mentioning is great and normally underrated. I've seen that most of the 16mm lenses on ebay are gone. So my best hance to have good images on the BMCCP is by converting The Vario and at least have something... OR, buy the Zeiss 10-100 T2 and Converting it to S16... I know Zeiss is great and I love it. But in this case is a Zoom. How would tat compare (if it could) with a Schneider Primes, or another Zeiss Old Primes, for example? Any footage on those in a 16mm camera just to have an idea?
  23. Yep... Consistency can kill creativity for sure... I've noticed that before :) But sometimes it does help too. Anyway. I digress. Thanks, Brian. I was wondering about 35mm Still Lenses X S16 Sensor. I was thinking to sell my Zeiss Planar 85. But might worth keeping it now. To dive into this spectrum... How other Prime Still 35mm Lenses would work on a S16 Sensor? I love the Zeiss ZF series. I'm considering buying a 18mm and a 35mm to be "covered" and keep "consistency" with my BMCC Pockey IF the wider lenses could work on it? Would they cover the s16 sensor too? If i do that I'd reach the maximum could afford in quality lens and be able to shoot short films. Then I'd sell the Vario... The good thing in having the Zeiss Stills is that they would work on the the 4K BMCC too. And what other lenses/brands would work beautifully in the BMCC you guys would buy to get the best of a BMCC? Either 16mm, S16 or 35mm stills? Easy to see how my world is breaking apart isn't it? :P
