  1. No advice? Please help! I need to know the best adapters I can find/brands/etc Thanks!
  2. I also need... More technical details of the battery, like MAH, AH, etc... Thanks, Flavio
  3. Alright! After a long time here I am again. I've build the cables, much easier than I though. Now I'm going to build/adapt two 12V nicd Battery packs... But I have to have the charger as well. SO... Need help. I saw in other threads people mentioning about the 12V drill batteries (Bosch, Makita), but didn't see how they manage to use them. I believe it can be much cheaper buying some of these or similar alternative (where I could improvise the XLR pins to connect the cable). Anyway, I digress a bit. Am really on it now, so any help would be wicked before I start to "burn" some batteries... :P Thanks, Flavio
  4. Hi John. This page has some wonderful advices. I'm now facing the same problem. Looking into build two 12V batteries for my 2 Arri 16s... I wonder what would be the best option? I saw you mentioning you have one of "Makita Stuff"... What do you mean by that? A Makita battery that you adapted to be used with an Arri 16s? I want to build a nice battery pack/charger that could last a lot, not being so heavy and yet "practical". I prefer the ones with the stripe to pass on shoulder instead of the belts... I'm really into it now, need advice. Any help (other than the ones here in this thread) would be wicked. Thanks, Flavio
  5. Well, that's quite obvious, isn't it? :P I'll open mine, have a look, take pics and post here. Then we figure out the exact Ceramic disc capacitors and other stuff to buy. Will post the pics soon...
  6. Hey Charlie. Thanks loads, man! It was AWESOME what you did... Taking the pictures and telling me everything... No words, really. But the thing is... (and sorry)... Not sure if you meant the opposite (from 8V to 12V???). Please let me know, because actually that's what I want. To change the 8V Motor to 12V... Thanks loads, man.
  7. Damn, it is. Really pristine. I wonder you guys would give me some advice to convert my other Mag to 12V? I just need to know what circuit to buy and what to do. I have one converted to 12V already, so I could do by comparison. Pls let me know. Ta, F
  8. Hi Charlies. Thanks. Yes, I know I can use the same Motor for all Mags, what's excellent. It's just me being perfectionist. But I'd like to AT LEAST convert another one... Then I have two and no need for any more. I'll probably sell the other 2 mags, and getting the two newest ones. That is more than enough I believe to make some short films from now on. I didn't check the others to be honest. I'm not much of an electrician. So I have to know how to test them. Do you have an idea? I'm aware about the weight of the 16s... I do have a shoulder support, that does it well. And I won't use more than a 400ft for SURE. Will probably take another 100ft for scenes holding the camera running behind the actors with a SteadCam Merlin I will borrow. Main thing for me now is to FIX the "B" Arri I have (not working)... BUILD 2 battery packs... Then AFTER convert one of the motors. And probably sell the other 2 (or keep them an one day could sell the Arri 16s "B" with two mags. Well, too much to do. And too little to spend... Thanks, F
  9. Hi again. I just saw one of the 4 motors I have has 12V TCM written inside it. To be sure about them all, will have to test the voltage... So, I wonder how would be possible to test the voltage of them? I have to have a voltage meter of course, but where I should touch the tips? And how to do hat without plugging into a battery? With the risk to burn it plugging the only 12V I have onto a 8V? Thanks, F

  11. Hi Pete/Ed. I have the same problem now... 4 ARRI 16S MAGS to convert. Too pricey. I'd rather try the conversion. Do you guys have any details/list of circuits/stuff to buy and go for it? mean, if I buy the circuit Ed mentioned (which one would actually be?) Just need to know some details so I can look onto it with something to start from. Please let me know. Best, Flavio
  12. Hi That's great advice, thanks. I can't invest at the momen in NOTHING else. I've bough 2 Arri 16s, one working other dont'. Converted a Bolex to Ultra... Today I bought two original Arri Lens Hood... 170 USD. Now I go the lenses and will shot a 100 ft ob B/W to test and see how it is... Am going mental, love the cameras, but it's getting pricey to fix the Arri16s and lens... :P I'll going to convert the Magazine Motors to 12V myself, to make cheaper my spendings. But the Kinoptik will have to take care of it... Such a gem of a lens.
  13. hey Charlie. Thanks, man, that's awesome! Plenty of info! Thing is. I JUST bought1/won 1 bid on eBay 2 Matte Boxes, ORIGINAL Standard MATTE BOXES for Arri16s (Total of $170 on both, but considering it's becoming quite HARD to find stuff for Arri 16s... I rather keep two one for each body and maybe sell later) OK, lets go by parts then... No, I don't have... But just to make sure I got straight. and find out what is missing to use them with my lens... WHAT items (IF ANY) of the above pictures you posted, I'd need in order to ADAPT these lens: 2 Zeiss 10mm and 16mm Cinegon Arri STD Lens 1 Kinoptik 5.7 >>> This I got what you said, it's PROBLEM... WHAT could I use in an original I'd do that if I have the money now. But its an expensive "toy" the Arri 16s (although worth every penny, isn't it?) I'm keen to make two of them work. But I'm sure I saw somewhere here, will look around. someone posted the pics and names of the pieces, and the guidelines on how to make this. Anyway, one of my Arri 16s is not working. It's perfect,, PRISTINE, but the old owner said he plugged, it run for a while and stopped... SO... It will probably have to go to a specialist. When I have the money, I can pay to make the changes. But I have one working. And keen to make the mags work. Any tips on the matte box/lens issue would help. Thanks, Flavio
  14. Hey Ian. How's it going? Long time. I was looking at our battery photo, quite cool. And that just gave me that *click* to start my merging into electric parts of my Arri 16s... Have 4 MAGS (yes, 4) to convert so need to know what to buy, how to do... to make it from 8V to 12V, so I can use the same battery source and avoid burning anything by accident in a set or something (what would be a nightmare). And after, build 2 Battery packs to carry, similar to yours in the pic, between making one NiCad or Acid. Not sure what's better/lenght of battery? I believe there's another post of yours or someone else, will look around to find it). So, any help is greatly appreciated. Links,. How 2's, etc... Thanks Flavio
  15. Hi Charlie. Wow, it's really cool that one... It might be really expensive though. Yeah, I'd probably get the "traditional" "accordeon" ones :P I bet is more versatile. I'd be using a Kinoptik 5.7, Zeiss 10 and 16mm... For short films I'll be doing the next months.
  16. Maybe this was covered before, but couldn't find where. I have 4 Old Arri 16s Mags and looking to have them converted to 12V so I can use the same source for my Tobin Motor and Mags using it. Anybody knows how to do it? Pieces to Buy/material/etc? Thanks F
  17. Seems a very old post. Years passed, a few more Telecine Labs have popped in the scene. But all in USA. I'm still in the looking for a Ultra 16 Telecine facility in Europe. I have both Ultra and 16mm cameras. But I'd stick to a native 1.85:1 instead of cropping. Honestly. But that would be if its POSSIBLE. If not, cropping would be OK with a bit more grain. I believe having the option to choose between regular and Ultra 16 would be nice. In Europe, we still don't. F
  18. I've found this one to use my Arri STD Lens on a Bolex C Mount camera: http://www.visualproducts.com/storeProductDetail02.asp?productID=1039&Cat=3&Cat2=49#bigPic The adapters I need are: Arri STD lens ADAPTER to C-Mount Camera Arri STD lens ADAPTER to NIKON F-Mount Camera NIKON F lens ADAPTER to C-Mount cameras. With these I 'm fully covered to use my lens (the possible ones) all around the bodies I have. Any help on brand, model, etc would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to find some really good new ones, if possible from the same manufacturer. Thanks, F
  19. Hi All. I was hoping to get some help on finding matte boxes that would fit my 2 Arri 16s? I know there' some original ones being sold around. But I was wondering if any "modern" model with the independent flaps could fit/adjust to my Arri 16s? (Sorry, mean MATTE BOX and ARRI in the title... :P) Thanks Flavio
  20. HI i Just saw this post from a long time ago... :P I'm looking for ADAPTER for Arri STD LENS to NIKON F MOUNT DSLR cameras. Does anybody knows any? Thanks, Flavio
  21. So, I've found this one... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270827701135#ht_500wt_1160 Not sure... But seems the link is not there anymore, or already sold, but possible to see. Maybe too old to rik in buying? Better find new ones on BH Photo kinda sites? Thanks,
  22. Haha! Cool... The Bolex Rex-5 rocks, isn't it? I remember once with my first Bolex Rex-5, I forgot to unlock from O to MOT. Then I winded in a while, felt was too hard... then I unlocked and notice how stupid I was... Luckly never felt anything wrong with the camera... and never forgot to unlock it. Not sure but maybe this could cause serious damage or "unbalance" the cameras on shooting? I'm not too much experienced on Spring Cameras, but I can say I do love the little bastards, and the REX 5 is for sure the BEST of them. Another thing if you might be able to help, please: I was looking for ADAPTOR RINGS to put another lenses on the C-MOUNT of my REX-5... - I believe there's some C-Mount > Arri STD Lens... But not sure about the NIKON lenses? Am looking on the web. But so far I've found only one.. - Do you guys know of best Adaptors for Arri STD Lens, and Nikon 35mm Lenses? I'm looking forward to use my Arri Std, and rent some Nikon 35mmto to shoot something. Thanks, guys. ;) F
  23. Hey guys. I wonder what would be a nice/affordable set of Nikon Lens to start shooting with a Nikon D7000? Was looking to buy some lens, maybe choose already a set the would be nice to have, and buy some now, some later. I saw some on a website here, and some really affordable Nikon Lens, and wonder if they're worth the investment? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/247091-USA/Nikon_2137_Normal_AF_Nikkor_50mm.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/606792-USA/Nikon_2183_AF_S_Nikkor_35mm_f_1_8G.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/477230-GREY/Nikon_2170_18_55mm_f_3_5_5_6G_ED_II.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/207359-GREY/Nikon_1928_AF_Zoom_Nikkor_70_300mm.html SOme variants of lenses, but I wonder if they're worth to buy if you are looking for the more cinematic look? (apart from the T2, can't afford). Thanks, Flavio
  24. Ok, Tim. Thanks, our messages just crossed. Yes, its Arri STD mount. So, no adaptors really? Shame. Thanks for the answer anyway. I better probably try to find adaptor to use Arri STD lens on my Sony DSLR camera. I think something like this, would work: http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/showthread.php?p=98467 And buy the adaptor to use Arri ST lens on my bolex, as I'm sure I saw this somewhere, not sure... Am trying to make the most of my equipment using adaptors, so I can use the le s around the other bodies whenever possible. Thanks for any info. F
