  1. I believe 3D for home viewing would have worked if the studios had really wanted it to. I believe they honestly do not. They want you to pay top dollar to watch some tripe, just because it is 3D. Unless you watch it on a 10 foot screen its really not worth it.
  2. It's a love it or hate kind of movie.
  3. That's all part of the fun. Experimenting with different setups and apparatus.
  4. A guy in another forum actually stated that he would make a point of NOT hiring anyone straight out of university as he found that they tend to have a very blinkered view of the film industry and expect things done just as their tutor instructed them to do. No flexibility, no compromise.
  5. At the end of the day where you learned the craft is not important. The fact that you DID learn the craft and are willing to continue to learn is what is important. People don't care about what fancy college you attended, what they do care about is that you can do the job at hand and pull your own weight.
  6. Its been almost 3 months since the last post and to be honest 3D has not gone any further. Still almost zero films released, certainly no live action movies. Still smells like failure to me.
  7. On a lot of forums there seems to be much ant- film school feeling. What is the general consensus of opinion here? Are all film schools as bad as some people like to portray or is there merit in the mentor / apprentice program?
  8. *********EDIT************ There are actually ZERO commercially available 3D Movies. This is beyond a joke. Studios get your heads out of your asses and get moving if you are truly serious about the format.
  9. Here is a very interesting article I came across today. Up till now there is only 1 3D movie that is commercially available any others are only available as part of a BD/ HDTV package. 3D will never succeed at this rate. It seems as though each studio is waiting for the next to make the first move. I prefer to watch my movies at home without glasses strapped to my face. http://money.cnn.com/2010/07/27/technology/3D_technology_dying.fortune/index.htm
  10. Contrary to how some people here feel about film connection, I am totally happy with both my program and my mentor. I love working in this business and connections has helped me.
  11. THIS IS NOT A SCAM. Sure you can call up any film studio or production house and try and get an internship but if you can do it, so what? You're just an intern on a long list of other interns that aren’t taken seriously. With Film Connection you go to the front of the line and take their structured course curriculum in Pro Tools and other software and you learn one on one. It really is NOT a scam and it saddens me to read about people trashing it. It worked for me, honest. I was able to learn with a film maker close to home and around my schedule, not the other way around. It's the knowledge you gain in the studio what really matters, not the text based stuff.
