Interesting thread, as I’m in the same position as the OP.

The bi-color COBs (Amaran 60/100/200x S) seem to have much better SSI scores, especially at 5600K, so the color accuracy and skintones should be better, no? All the bi-color or RGBWW LED panel lights (or RGBWW COBs for that matter) I’ve looked at have SSI scores in the low-mid 70s at 5600k and low-mid 80s at 3200K. I’d love the versatility a RGBWW light has to offer, but not if the colors take a backseat, especially skintones.

In terms of COBs with domes vs panels, I can see the benefits of both, which is why I can’t decide which way to go.

I also like to keep things simple and versatile. It’s not easy to choose a set of 2-3 lights.

there is an Aputure group on FB that has lot's of info and examples of set ups.
    Might be worth  look

Hey guys, still fairly new to lighting.
Lets say I have two 250s diffusion stitched or placed together will I lose the same stop of light and get the same light quality as a 216?
Or two lite grids to get full grid cloth? I assume two lite grids would be softer than a full grid.

Doubling up on Diffusion will not make it Softer-

    What?

Tarpaulin is virtually opaque. It's not diffusion, it's a flag.

They come in white too- at least here in the US. I don't know the stop loss but they do diffuse the light quite nicely.

Unfortunately no examples but one shoot had a canopy set up with a white tarp and we just used it and shot under it. Been awhile so can't remember much about specs and such.

  4. Rosenthal Group has the DEDO LED7s- if the LEdzilla doesnt work out. Not exactly the same but might work

We have gold mount powered ballasts available as wells as ac ballasts.  Our standard kit has 3 heads with one of the units being able to run ac or gold mount battery.

  5. It goes from the Power adapter to the battery unit- it is the DC connection>

If you re not using batteries you need to plug the DC connection from the AC Power adapter  into the battery Holder.

  6. Hi Johanan,

it has been so long since we have sent out DP lights I don't recall.

I'm sure the front diffusion on the softbox will contain the exploding bulb, if it happens.

When we were renting out the DP lights regularly I only experienced of one example of an exploding bulb in about 5 years.

The client did not tighten the stand riser knob, riser dropped and when it collapsed the shocked caused the bulb to explode.
Guess what they decided not to use?
Exploded bulb pieces landed on a leather couch
