  1. If anyone near or around the NYC area has a Logmar, I want to talk to them. We would LOVE to have access to one for this shoot.
  2. No way would I ever risk the production to an at home lab development. We will want the absolute best possible outcome. Rob, 2k is something I want to explore. I'll send you an email.
  3. Whoops... I forgot to ask: WHERE to develop Super8 film these days? Pac-Lab in NYC closed (and their service had really gone to poop anyway). I will not even discuss the crooks at Pro8. Good grief, who is left?! I won't be able to afford sending my precious footage in only to have a machine shred it or some idiot accidentally push or pull it.
  4. Those of you know know me might have been aware that I left NYC 18 months ago and haven't shot any film in over two years. In fact, I sold all my film stock/camera/gear a few months back. I was done. Whoops. It seems I may finally be doing something I have long wanted... Shooting Super8 for a feature. Now it's not like we have the entire feature funded. Nope. But at this point I am tired of waiting and instead am funding (with a partner) the section of the feature that will be shot on film. Super8 film to be exact. The film essentially has three sections and each section has a distinct look. We are looking at very late September for principle photography in Manhattan. Needless to say, I will soon be looking at scanning options. While I want to shoot B&W we will likely shoot color and convert to B&W in post. Note I say "Likely." I am not yet certain. Tri-X shot right can't be beat. Look at this as an example... Wow. The project is an 85 to 90 minute film and around 20 minutes is planned as B&W film. I will be shooting on a Nikon R10 as well as a few other cameras that will be provided and manned by one of my favorite 8mm shooters (I'll announce who once this is all set in stone). It's going to be so cool to collaborate with this guy. He's an 8mm master. Anyway, just want to let everyone know film is still viable. It's an option. You just have to work at it to make it happen. God help me in pulling this off.
  5. Every film I have seen this year has had aliasing of some sort. :(
  6. So I have sold off the 200T and the Tri-X. All that is left are the 500T. Five Vision3 500T cartridges.
  7. I'm not giving up on filmmaking, gents. But Super8 really crashed and burned with the loss of color reversal. That was 90% of what I did and it hurts to lose it. Were I still in NYC or maybe in L.A. it would be one thing... But I am living in the outer limits of the Twilight Zone down here. I haven't shot professionally in over a year. :( Not to mention i board a plane to China three weeks from now for a month long trip. That trip will result in my either taking a day job over there (and a new adventure) or coming home with funding to do a full feature film (micro-budgeted), which would be shot digitally. Too much to go over. But filmMAKING is not dead to me. Owning Super8 is. For now. Just for now.
  8. Kodak Vision3: 500T/7219 200T/7213. Five rolls each. I had intended to shoot a short film, but once I came to NC... Well that didn't happen.
  9. Sold the camera, accesories and Pelican Case. A sad day, indeed. But I have ten rolls of negative left, plus some Tri-X.
  10. David, I could not send you a PM. The website said you could not receive them. All my color reversal is gone. I sold it last year. What I have left is some Tri-X (three rolls, I believe) and five Kodak 200T and the same for 500T. They were all in my freezer since I came down to NC last Feb 28 (2014).
  11. Can't jinx it so I am refraining from stating where until my visa is approved. But believe me, there is no way I can shoot film there without going through some huge hurdles.
  12. It's official. I am moving out of the country. This has long been a dream of mine and now it is a reality. But I cannot shoot Super8 where I am going so I am selling my Canon 1014 XL-S plus all accessories. As some of you may know, my Canon was serviced by Willard Engineering last year. I went through hell getting it back from him (long story, no need to re-hash) and thank the maker he did his job well because I did shoot film with it, have it developed and recently projected it. Everything was 100%. My big fear was that he might screw up the light meter, but everything was spot on. I have attached a picture of what is being sold. It's the entire kit. Camera, 85 filter & polarizer, original box and manual, lens hood, microphone, ear piece, etc. AND both the Wide Angle and Telephoto lenses. MINT. And I do mean mint. I'll even throw in two rolls of Tri-X that have been in the freezer (I have a lot of film I can sell too) I also have a stunning Pelican Case with foam I custom cut for the camera and accessories. I'll sell that if you are also interested. The Camera is on eBay, but I am perfectly willing to bypass them and save us both some cash since their fees are pretty much outrageous. Please understand, this is a sad day for me. I had made the decision to keep the camera and keep shooting, but the opportunity to move overseas is too much to pass up. There will be no conceivable way of buying or processing film where I am going, so I really can't hold on any longer. Thanks to everyone here who helped me learn the ropes years ago. This forum was my teacher. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-1014-XL-S-Super-8mm-Film-Camera-SERVICED-MINT-Wide-Angle-Lens-Box-amp-More-/291423303073?
  13. No one is left. No one. Willard Engineering has a truck full of cameras he has never fixed and will not return to the rightful owners. Du-All does little Super8 repair now and outside of them... Nobody. That is why I am getting out of Super8. I am going to put my repaired and serviced Canon 1014 XL-S up for sale this weekend. Thank God I was able to push Willard to finish the job. it was like going to war. I think i might be the lone survivor when it comes to Willard.
  14. I am certain he has a room full of cameras. I have talked with so many people who are trying to get their cameras back.
  15. And to think people criticized me fore going public! Willard is a complete jerk. He is steeling people's cameras. I am amazed I got mine back. But I had to fight for it. Hard.
  16. They have exclusivity on the camera, yes. With the end of Kodak color reversal (that hurt) and now the one film camera I was going to splurge on becoming essentially a Pro8mm product my heart has just gone out of it.
  17. That was my experience with them... Until it wasn't. they messed up and overcharged me. I called and asked them to please credit me. They refused. Long story but I fought the charges and won. But it was a terrible experience and I was flat out insulted on the phone and told I don't matter because I didn't spend that much money with them. That is not an exact quote, but it's close. Needless to say, I was floored that they could so casually throw away my business and insult me rather than just fix the overcharge and keep me as a customer. It so soured me on 8mm that I haven't shot any since.
  18. The Pro8mm announcement pretty much sealed the fate of Super8 with me. I'm getting out of it and will soon sell my Canon 1014 XL-S. I simply cannot deal with Pro8mm and how they treat people without deep pockets as though they are pieces of poop.
  19. Just conversations I had with some working DP's. Two in NYC, one in L.A. and one in Saigon. They all (like us) love shooting film and they miss it, being forced to shoot digital 99% of the time these days so a camera like this is something they want to get their hands on.
  20. It is not overpriced. They anticipate selling a certain amount. From there do the math on R&D and costs to build the cameras to be sold. Are they not allowed to make a profit? They are not running a charity. While I am flummoxed they have signed up with Pro8mm I am not about to say they owe us cameras at cost.
  21. DVRing it and will watch the entire series in one siting once it's done. Looking forward to it!
  22. Then I am out. officially out. I will not deal with Pro8mm after they tried to rip me off and told me they didn't need my business because I was 'small time."
  23. No question Mr. Willard should have stopped taking in new cameras when he had a huge backlog. Remember, he answered all my emails prior to sending in the camera within 24 hours and was extremely wordy in his replies, supplying much analysis. Then when he received the camera, the communication stopped. Completely. And that is what seems to have happened with others who've sent in their cameras.
