  1. Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of developing initial ideas for a dissertation I'll be writing later this year, and was wondering if anyone wanted to share some advice and potential topics to research into? It has to be Cinematography-based as that's what I'm studying. Thanks, Jonny
  2. For anyone interested, I've put up a Zacuto Z-Finder EVF Pro onto eBay. Great condition - used only a handful of times. UK-based. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331582421261
  3. Ending in one hour! Still a good deal to be had!
  4. Hello, Selling a copy of DaVinci Resolve if anyone is interested - auction ends tomorrow (19:39BST), and there's no reserve price, so it could be a pretty good deal: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331223187269?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 As I understand, this version can be upgraded to version 11 when it is released. Cheers!
  5. Yeah I realise that would be a cheaper option, but I have access to these Dedos for free. Regarding their output though in comparison to a conventional fresnel: With a 150W lamp in the flood position, its light output is greater than a 300W Fresnel studio fixture. In the spot position, it equals or exceeds a 1000W Fresnel studio fixture. Thanks for the replies!
  6. I've got a shoot coming up where I preferably want a few 150W Dedos put through to a flicker box, and I was wondering if this is a good idea considering they come with dimmers? For another scene I'd like them put through to a DMX board, so I can control their output more easily than if I had the separate dimmers for each one. Would either of the above scenarios screw up the dimmers that the lights come with? I know the dimmer and plug actually come as a separate lead that plugs into the head, so can I use a different cable instead, with no dimmer? Thanks!
  7. Item ends in just over an hour for anyone interested!
  8. Hello, Posted a similar advert last week - there’s one last copy of DaVinci Resolve for sale if anyone is interested - auction ends tomorrow (20:45GMT), and no reserve price, so it could be a pretty good deal: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331138358547 Cheers!
  9. Hello, My work are offloading some unused software, and there’s currently a copy of DaVinci Resolve for sale if anyone is interested - auction ends tomorrow (19:50GMT), and no reserve price, so it could be a pretty good deal: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DaVinci-Resolve-ver-9-10-CD-and-Dongle-/331131085498?ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:GB:1123 Cheers!
  10. Sorry I realised I do have a follow-up question regarding using a higher wattage bulb - if you're using ND or dimming them to bring them within your exposure range anyway, then what's the benefit of using a higher wattage (apart from creating a warmer light if dimmed)?
  11. Thanks Toby for clarifying. I must've misinterpretated the information, although I did think that literally hiding a lamp behind the practical was maybe a bit unneccessary! Cheers guys!
  12. Hi there, I'm currently looking into a lighting strategy that primarily involves the use of practicals. After some research I've heard about hiding a "gag" light behind a practical in order to augment its effect. Can anyone elaborate on how this is done with regards to what kind of rig I would need to create? Thanks! Jonny
  13. Hello there, I'm currently in pre-production for a short film, which is primarily based in an underground bunker (set build). I'm after some visual references for the lighting (films, TV, photos, paintings), whether it be in a similar location and/or that show strong use of practicals. I've begun looking at the film Downfall, but would like to hear of any other ideas? Thanks! Jonny
