  1. Thanks for all that, I'll keep it in mind.
  2. I'm about to take the plunge and put down my cold hard cash for a Canon 1014 XL-S. I hear nothing but great things about these cameras, but is there any problems that I should be looking for when buying one? Cheers! EDIT: I should probably note that this camera would be being operated on a weekly basis.
  3. I picked up some 16mm film 3 years ago and I found an unused roll last week. Now I always keep my film in the fridge, but this one wasn't. I live in an area where it can be pretty cold, and pretty darn hot. Any way I can tell if this is still usable?
  4. The Canon Auto Zoom 814 doesn't have crystal sync sound. Meaning that the motor doesn't run at an exact constant speed, so whatever you record on your external sound recorder won't necessarily sync up.
  5. Thanks for the reply, RIchard. And it just so happens that it's nanolab who I was looking at buying some stock from. Cheers.
  6. I've never screwed around with standard 8mm film before, only 16mm and Super 8, and I'm looking at testing out a few standard 8mm cameras that I have picked up over time. I always used to load 16mm film in complete darkness, but I hear that isn't needed with standard 8, you only have to be in the shade and it won't affect the film in any way. Any truth to this?
  7. Congratulations! What kind of camera did you use, and was is stock or modified in any way?
  8. Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums, but I knew someone here should be able to answer my question. I recently picked up an Elmo 612S-XL, but I'm having troubles with the viewfinder! I don't have the manual for the camera, but I figured out that the diopter is on the eyepiece, and there's only 3 different points to choose from, as opposed to just turning it freely until it's clear. No matter what I do I can't adjust it to my eye. Is there some kind of workaround? I hope so because I'm really happy with the camera. Thanks!
