  1. Hello, I have a Bell & Howell 70dr that I'm using for a class project. It's my first time using an analog camera & I'm having a bit of trouble with it. I went to load the film, setting the running speed to 8fps as instructed, but now the camera isn't running (no film inside). It is wound, so I know it should run. What seems out of place/wrong is the "run" button keeps sticking, so I figure it has to do with that, but don't know how to fix it. Help is much appreciated. -NG
  2. Hi, I'm been wondering something similar. Is it possible to work your way up to eventually become a cinematographer with no training? I have been told yes, but that it will usually be passed over for better qualified people (or in my case, recent film-school graduates). I thought that persistently applying for Panavision's 2-year, paid internship would be a good shoe-in, but I've been told that it would be the same problem (me getting passed over for better qualified people). I was told that the best solution would be to return to film school (in this case the Academy of Art University) by a teacher/mentor, who is also a member of the SOC. I'd greatly appreciate any insight on the different ways different members become cinematographers. Thank you
  3. One of my teachers told me that to be eligible, even for the two year internship, the applicant must be enrolled full-time in school. But I took a look at the application, as well as the job description, and there wasn't any indication of this requirement. Could anyone tell me if this is true or not? Thank you!
  4. Hey all, Is there an actual difference between an optical lens chamois and the ones you can find at a store like blick? If so, what kind of chamois should I be looking for? I'm trying to put my 2cd ac gear kit together - I'd appreciate any tips on where to get quality tools, but that aren't over priced. Thanks much -N
