  1. Is there a method for giving an old lens a more substanstial clean than normal? I have an old lens and I've removed small particles with a carbon fibre brush and cleaned it with a lens pen, but wondered if there is a more thorough cleaning method such as dipping a lens in hot soapy water or something? (I dunno, I'm making stuff up now!) I'm just wondering, obviously I would never let a lens get so grubby myself, but sometimes you pick things up second hand....
  2. Thanks for the reply John! Yes they should all be 16mm and most are definitely c mount. I'm puzzled still if the B&H super comat is c mount as it is connected to a B&H 240EE and someone seemed to suggest it was a c mount camera but perhaps not! The real mystery is the yvar lens which was sold to me as c-mount, but sadly, I suspect it might not be. You are right about the cinar lens being old, I knew it was a cooke lens but didn't want to get anyone excited, the camera it is connected to is a very, very scary old thing. I'm still working on it. The Carl Meyer is interesting because it is f1.0 and is also telephoto! It's not without problems but seems okay. Can anyone tell me about Carl Meyer? The cine Raptor I also know little about. The Super Comat, the cine Raptor seem to be in similar good condition. I was wondering which would be prefferable out of the 2.

    Old Lenses

I have the following cine lenses: A 20mm f1.9 Super Comat Taylor Hobson Cinar lens f2.8 (25mm?) Yvar f2.8 15mm No 11670 (Is this even c mount?) Wollensack 1 inch cine raptor lens f1.9 Carl Meyer Cine Telephoto RT428 1.5 inches f1.0 (!!!) Can anyone tell me anything about any of these? Which are the better lenses? Is the telephoto lens only of use for far away subjects? !! :) love Freya
  4. I have a 240EE which I picked up locally, so cheap it was silly, however the lens doesn't appear to be removable. Is it definitely c mount on this model? If so, how are the lenses removed? My lens appears to be a 20mm Super Comat. Is that the standard lens for this camera? love Freya
  5. I was a bit mystified by what you said about the sync sound issues with the camera. Do you mean that the cost of a S16 modification wouldn't be worth the investment with regards a mos camera? Obviously the sound isn't too related to the aspect ratio! :) I expect anyone considering the modification is considering doing it themselves as the cameras are relatively cheap. Or are you saying it is ambitious because you know something about the cameras structure? Looking at a 240EE myself, on the one hand it seems straightforward because it is not reflex and the viewfinder would easily be modified and it appears to perhaps just be a simple gate modification, but OTOH it seems very unclear to me, looking at the thing, how on earth you would get at the gate. I suspect that on the filmo, you can undo the bolt on the centre of the turret (tho I've never tried it) but the 240 looks very mysterious! Anyone got any further insight on the matter? love Freya
