  1. I saw Elephant over the holidays; very much a get-in-the-holiday-mood kind of film......... It's an excellent film; Harris Savides continues to evolve and do fantastic work; can't wait for his next feature.
  2. Does anyone know anything else about this camera outside of the PR releases and articles I've been finding. I don't suppose anyone has seen it yet?
  3. I have a no-budget shoot coming up and we're looking at shooting a small night exterior in the rain. We're already looking at using long lenses and finding backgrounds that won't create huge spaces of depth to try and cover; we're shooting DV. Any and all suggestions for rain FX are welcome; varius rigs people have used, tricks and tips, etc. Thanks to all in advance.
  4. I've used the Minima on about a half dozen shoots and never once had any trouble with the sound department; we found it to be quieter than our Prod as well. You should have no troubles at all. Jayson Crothers Los Angeles
  5. The Last Samurai is very much like Braveheart, only in Japan. Toll does, as is to be expected, excellent work, but it seems very familiar. The end battle scene has shots that are straight out of his Braveheart work. I like the film, except for the casting of Tom Cruise...... Cold Mountain I also enjoyed very much; Seale uses a few zooms that are distracting, but I enjoyed the movie and the photography. There's some heavy filtration work in the opening battle that seemed very heavy handed, but I still enjoyed it. Thoughts anyone? Jayson Crothers Los Angeles
  6. If I recall correctly, the OC is shot on 16 now; the pilot was on 35. Jayson Crothers Los Angeles
  7. I just finished gaffing a short with a few of them; the DoP fell in love with them and we used them constantly. A bit awkward, but a very nice unit all around. Has anyone used the new Mole Richardson Biax units? Jayson Crothers Los Angeles
