  1. As others said, make sure to set camera to -20dB and Mixer/Recorder to 0dB. This will give you most of the audio. Again, of course it depends on the situation you're at. But most of the times it works for me. When I edit I like to keep my dialogue levels around -3dB. Again depends on the scene.
  2. Oh, really? Are you saying there is no way to record uncompressed RAW 2K video on Canon 5D? :)
  3. Blackmagic Design will never make it open source. What if Magic Lantern or GH team will unlock 4K or even higher on 2.5K model? Bad for business.
  4. I think the only thing that is missing is audio quality. You can live without meters, buy a mixer, or use your field recorder's audio meters.
  5. Why would you need more exposure options? You already have good zebra. Use a light meter if you're not sure. It's not Magic Lantern, it's cinema camera.
  6. Works like a charm. Just in case anybody wonders best settings for the current (1.5) firmware to use with field mixer I used the following settings: camera is set to Line level at 100%, mixer is set to 0db sending 1kHz tone into camera. UltraScope reads -20dB.
  7. I'll try connect camera with thunderbolt to mac and use UltraScope, should work.
  8. I need to set the camera to around 20dB, so the mixer and camera can be on the same track. But BMCC has %, I'm wondering which is the closest to 20dB. Some users said 100% corresponds to 12dB
  9. Yes I want to calibrate mixer with camera. I don't have Atomos Samurai unfortunately, any turn around?
  10. Hi, I have an FP33. How do I send a 1 kHz pilot tone to the BMCC to calibrate it?
  11. It been over one week now using this Lanparte product. Guess what, it broke down. I lost all the screws. Alan screws (if that's the name to call them) are all busted. Only super glue holds it together at the moment.
  12. Yesterday I received my Lanparte power base. I'm impressed. It has two 12V outs, one 7.4V out, one 5V in and one 5V out for the HDMI splitter, one HDMI in, two HDMI outs, one 15V out and D-Tap out. It came with 5 different cables, however none of which fits my BMCC camera as it requires 5.5mm in, so I went to best buy and picked up a laptop power adapter for $10. Problem solved. What I really like about this piece is that you can charge battery on it. I tries to charge both my Switronix and Anton Bauer batteries and it works. Charging cycle is around 3.5-4 hours to completely charge the battery from 0-100%. Everything is metal and fils really strong. The only downside is that the knobs that control position of the power base itself seem not to hold the weight of the battery for longer times when used in 90°position. Overall I'm very happy with this buy. Oh yeah and delivery was surprisingly fast! It took 2 days to arrive from China to my door. Courier was DHL. Let me know if you want to see some pictures.
  13. Here is a test of this lens which I done a while ago using BMCC 2.5K. Pocket has slightly smaller sensor so it will cover the frame above 20mm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJc7O2D4lFA
  14. What is the best audio setting in camera to use with external preamp for firmware 1.5?
  15. I haven't tested myself as I don't own a camera that it can be used with. That's the reason for sale, otherwise I'd keep it. Read carefully description.
  16. I'm using Shoot35 follow focus, which is very good as well. I wish I knew about Tilta or Lanparte at the time I bought it. It's not that Shoot35 make bad stuff, it's overpriced a little.
  17. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Gene. That's exactly what I heard about their follow focuses. Good quality and very little/no backlash.
  18. I just ordered v mount battery plate from Lanparte. Paid $300. The best deal i could find for this proce range. I will be using it with Switronix v mount batteries, if it works ;) Will post review on it when it arrives.
  19. What would you choose when buying your equipment and why, Lanparte vs Tilta? As far as I know both companies manufactured equipment in China for a fraction of cost for well known film corporations in the US and worldwide. One day they decided to make their own equipment and that's how they were born. I've read some extremely good reviews of equipment quality made by both Tilta and Lanparte. Does that mean that China can actually make high quality stuff?
