  2. What is the cheapest place to buy a 400ft magazine for Arri IIC? Visual products has one for $550 http://www.visualproducts.com/storeProduct...t=3&Cat2=38 Is that average price? or can I find a better deal?
  3. Is there an experienced 1st AC (who owns Arri 2C) in the Chicagoland area who can give me a basic run-down on Arri 2C operation? Your help will be appeciated. I m a film student.

  6. It is very hard to stay calm under those circumstances, but one has to. How to? everyone have their own personal way in maintaining calm. I do by reminding myself that it'll be all over soon.
  7. I pay .44 cents/feet for Fuji Reala film stock that I purchase from film emporium. I only buy 400ft cans. http://www.tapesuperstore.com/fure50conefi.html
  8. Dear George, I have just emailed you the manual. I don't know about the motor, however I do have the 'Repair & Parts Manual for IIB & IIC Arriflex 35mm Cameras' manual also. That I can photocopy and send you via mail. Lemme know ur mailing address if interested. Nooman
  9. Wikipedia on Lollywood Sorry I m deviating from the main topic. I hope people do shed light on why the above two Pakistani movies have a horrible print quality. Film stock? etc. Now the pics. Photos taken in Feb 2001. Film projectors (which seem really old to me. I think a rod of lead had to be burned inside the projector as light source. These projectors didnt use bulbs). The film exhibition hall where cinemascope films were previewed. Dolly shot. Set of a brothel before film shooting 35mm Arri 2C with a 1000ft magazine and an Angenieux 25 to 250mm zoom lens (I think)
  10. It should open up in Windows Media Player 9.0 or maybe you can download divx player. But the main question remains, why is the print quality of these films so horrible? No. This is just like the real film. Can you imagine that the real film being exhibited in cinema-houses is identically horrible. I visited Lollywood (Lahore, Pakistan) in 2001 and snapped some photos. I will post them here. I think the image-chain is made up of obsolete equipment.
  11. I dont know. I randomly captured it from my computer-tv. I have some Pakistani movies, I can mail it to you. You can mail them back to me after watching.
  12. I have upload two small clips of Pakistani movies. All Pakistani movies have this horrible '1950s'/pale look. These movies were shot in year 200x, but their look & print looks so old. Is it because of film stock or lens or the chemicals used in development? Usually Arri 2C is the camera of choice for shooting movies in Pakistan. Your analysis will be highly appreciated. Movie 1 - 10 second clip Movie 2 - 10 second clip
  13. Does Final Cut Pro install on MS Windows? or is it for mac operating system only?
  14. Thank you guys. I just bought some empty film cans from Kodak today. The people at Kodak were extremely helpful. Also, I'll visit Astro Labs in Chicago this Friday and lets see if they are willing to part with a few empty film cans :)
  15. From where I can buy empty metal film cans (35mm) on the web? would prefer Kodak.
  16. Thank you guys. This is tremendous help. and I will definately buy Dominic Case's book. One last question. The final product (reel) that is shipped to the theaters for screening, what film stock is that? Is it positive stock or is it simply known as "Print Films"? example? http://www.kodak.com/US/en/motion/products...d=0.1.4.8&lc=en or http://www.fujifilmusa.com/JSP/fuji/epartn...603437&product=
  17. What is the post-production process-flow for 35mm (film)? Is it: 1. Film development after shoot. 2. Film is scanned via a telecine machine. (whats the medium)? 3. Scanned film is edited on a computer. (what software)? 4. Film is written to 35mm reel for theatrical screening.? (what type/make/model of reel)? A confused film student :(
  18. What is the price of this camera?
  19. Recently Arri unveilved their new Super 16mm film camera, Arriflex 416. Question is, will it accept any super 16mm film stock OR will it be like Aaton's A-minima & only accept a special film stock?
  20. I have the Arri IIC instructions manual. It was emailed to me by the kind staff at Arri USA. (free of cost ofcourse). God bless the staff at Arri! Note: tried to upload the manual here. Didnt work. Mods, can you please post it on the forum - Manuals section. I can email it to the mods
  21. How would you guys rate the film program at the University of Texas at Arlington? The one thing that really impressed me was that they make a 35mm feature film once every two years as part of practical/field training. and all the students get to participate in it. Would this satisfy the 'Film school VS making your own film" argument? http://www.uta.edu/art/filmvideo.html From their website "Every two years, the Department offers a fully-funded "Feature Film" experience. The most recent was shot in 35mm Panavision©. The films that emerge from this class have been screened in Hollywood at the Director's Guild of America as part of the highly competitive Texas Independents Showcase Competition."
