Hi! I’m looking to buy an Arri SR3. I’m based in LA. Open to international sellers. Just must be willing to ship to a third party for a pre sale inspection. Thanks! Victor victor@tadashi.tv

For Sale: ARRI SR3 Highspeed Kit
Victor Tadashi Suarez replied to Eugene Fishman's topic in Cine Marketplace
Hi! Interested! Would love to know more. Thanks! -
Hello! My insurance is up for renewal and I'm wondering if there might be a better company out there than the one I've been working with. I'm currently with Tom C Pickard & Sons and pay around 2500/yr for $50K in owned equipment coverage with $1000 deductible and no rental insurance. I've researched others looking for a better deal but haven't been able to find anyone who could beat these numbers What companies do you all insure your gear with? Thanks for your responses!

Zeiss CP.2 vs Zeiss ZE/ZF
Victor Tadashi Suarez replied to Ben J. Abbey's topic in Lenses & Lens Accessories
If anyone can spot the difference between a ZE and a CP then they are superhuman. You pay for the housing in the CPs, period. Optical quality is the same. -
I always shoot the C300 with the new Canon Wide DR picture profile. It gives me the most out of the camera and I dont have to worry about my 8-bit image falling apart in the coloring. Its really an amazing thing.

Canon introduces new EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM lens
Victor Tadashi Suarez replied to Tim Tyler's topic in Canon
Very interesting! I do a lot of handheld doc work and IS is always something that I'm looking for. If only they would develop a 2.8 zoom with IS... I would pay any amount of money for that... -
Hello! I'm wondering what you folks think about this. My goal is to use it sort of as a teaser on my website, in order to get producers to click through to my portfolio where I have projects in their entirety. I'm wondering if this is effective? Or maybe it looks amateurish? Or maybe the older producers out there who aren't used to ingesting media in bite size bits might have a seizure watching this? What are your thoughts?? Thanks :)

FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT! I also considered working at a rental house when I first started out. I think the best way to develop your skills as a DP is through practice, and "just doing it". But there are bills to pay when you're just starting out and its going to be very challenging at first to find paying gigs, especially in the super saturated job market that is LA. Any job that puts you anywhere in the film world is preferable to, say, waiting tables. Working at a rental house is definitely great for making contacts, and a wonderful stepping stone for getting crew gigs and an especially good first step towards becoming a gaffer. That said, its also quite difficult to land a job at a rental house. My advice would be to take the initiative - spend a day driving around to every rental house in LA and introduce yourself to the managers and express your interest in working there. And, you know, charm them :) Fake it till you make it but feed yourself first. GOOD LUCK

Tips on cutting your cinematography reel?
Victor Tadashi Suarez replied to Joshua Jones's topic in General Discussion
Just make it look good! And make it personal - it should show off your own unique style and taste. If you cut something together and you don't love it, then start again! Remember that producers are going to be looking through lots of reels and they have limited time. Definitely put your most amazing stuff at the start. My own reel acts as sort of a teaser to get people to click through to my portfolio, where I have complete projects posted. My reel is 60 seconds long with rapid fire shots - my goals is just to show producers as quickly as possible that I've done a lot of different (hopefully good) stuff. You can check it out here if you'd like: www.tadashi.tv GOOD LUCK! Share your reel when you've finished cutting it together!
