  5. A spreader wanted for old Ronford Baker tripod, don't know if the new ones are similar? My tripod is from mid 80's. I'm located in Finland so inside EU would be best. Mikko
  6. For Rokinon's you can also use 77mm threaded ones. A Tiffen set (.6, .9 and 1.2) goes for 100usd at BHphoto. That's half of the price of one 4x4 Tiffen.
  7. The good thing is our days are not that long here. Normally 10 hours including wrap (on a feature/tv-series/etc). So there's still time to rest after driving the truck ;)
  8. Here 1st or 2nd AC drives camera truck, gaffer/best boy drives light truck, key grip drives grip truck.. In Finland I mean :) So I'd suggest you to tell about your driver's license, just recently a friend lost a job as light technician on a feature because he only had a normal license, not one you can drive a lighting truck with.
  9. The model is S-1071F. Would 200€ be fair? It was around 1400€ new.
  10. SWIT 7" monitor for sale. 4 years old, used a lot. Scuffs and marks, on the screen too, and some light leak on bottom edge. It's fine to use but far from perfect. Two HD-SDI inputs (and out), HDMI-input, HDMI to HD-SDI converter, scopes, waveforms.. A sony NP-F battery shoe. It was top of the line from SWIT in 2011. The screen cable was loose and had it fixed earlier this year. Sometimes it needs to reboot to find the HD-SDI signal, but after booting it always works. Sound monitoring from 3.5mm output does not work. It's located in Finland, shipping to everywhere, cost to EU around 20€ and more elsewhere. I'm accepting offers. Bad quality picture attached, I'll take better if someone is interested. Mikko
  11. Well, buying used equipent doesn't always mean old technology. For example my 40 years old Sachtler head is a lot like their current models :) With monitors it's obviously not the case. I got an offer from a friend who would sell a Flanders 17", so I'll test it next week. Also for my current work, most times the client/producer/etc doesn't really know/care what equipment I bring, as long as it works and is affordable. So I'm trying to find the best price/quality ratio. I'll find more info about the focus-units, if someone has pros/cons about AXIS-1 or RTmotion MK3, please share. Thank you! Mikko
  12. Does anyone have experience of RTmotion AND Hocus AXIS1? I see a lot of good reviews of both, and both are from UK with similar pricing. And what about the directors monitor? I've seen used Panasonic BT-LH1700's for 6-800€, which would be good deal (incase it's good condition), but that aside it's old technology. I'm not sure if that's something I want to invest on, what are your thoughts? There is sale on TV-logic LVM-176W and LVM-182W at local dealer.
  13. I am renting the equip for productions, mostly when I'm on board too, but also to others. I'm pretty confident about getting the 058W, I really like the size/resolution and price is not too high either. A used BT-LH1700 would be great find, but then again it's old. Do you think it would be better to invest on a 1080p panel display nowadays? Would it then serve for more years? What do you think about the size, normally what I see here is 17", but I guess nobody would complain about having a few inches bigger? (except the one who carries it) On the wireless FF I can't really afford a Arri or Preston. I was first considering Cinegears, but I think I need to buy something more professional. How about a C-motions Compact ONE, A Hocus AXIS-1, or the Heden Carat you meantioned? I'm topping my budget for this around 5000€. For all of these, I'm not looking to get the best of the best, but a professional solution. For a lot off stuff I have professional gear, but very old ones, for example a Sachtler 25 head from western germany, which works perfectly and I just had serviced.
  14. Hi all! I've been working for some years now as focus puller, operator, DP, etc. Ranging from low budget shorts and commercials to features. I'm located in Finland. I'm now shifting my career more towards focus pulling, and I'm thinking of buying some industry standard-equipment for that job. I already own equipment, from PL-mount Lomo's to HMI-lights. Most of my shoots I'm prepared with my own equipment and don't really need to rent anything. I do have all basic tools for the job, and a camera-van with shelves, so for most of my AC-geeks I try to bring as much of my own equipment as possible. There is still some things I need that are occasionally rented, and I would like to invest in these: -TV-logic 058w -monitor. I've had a SWIT 7" which was top-notch 4 years ago, but it has started to fail a lot. Is the 058w best choise for focus pulling monitor? Here it's the industry standard. -Wireless follow focus. I've used only a rented Chrosziel Digifox, and I'm not very happy with that. Single channel is what I need for 95% of situations, so that's what I'm looking for. I've narroved it down to Bartech and RTmotion. Bartech is a little bit more expensive but it has a good reputation. What are your thoughts? -Directors/clients monitor. Here I mostly see the Panasonic BT-LH1700 and a TV-logic 17" one (not sure about the model). I wouldn't like to invest a lot on this, so under 2000€ would be great. There is some TV-logic models for that and also from local seller I could get a SWIT 22" for a good price. Any thoughts on this? Do you have something else in mind? That a AC could use and bring to most of the jobs? All the best, Mikko
  15. Hi! I'm a AC/Operator from Finland. Next month my flat will be going through pipe renevation, so I thought it's good time to take a vacation. And since my girlfriends sister is studying in Barcelona, we'll come there for some time. I'm very much work oriented, so taking a 1-month holiday is not ideal for me. Probably I'll want to do something after a few days :-) That's why I'm thinking about a chance to meet local film crews and work in some projects. In Finland I've worked 5 years as 2nd and 1st assistant and operator in features, shorts and documentaries, and some shorts and music videos as a DP. I'm not looking to earn money with it, more about meeting filmmakers from different areas and getting experience. I'll work for free/food/etc. I'm coming around 5th of April, and will spend 4-5 weeks there. We (my girlfriend and I) are coming by car (my camera-van, which also works as a camper). Unfortunately I do not speak spanish/catalan, but I've worked a lot with english language. So if you are a 1st AC and looking for a 2nd for some geeks during that time, a DP and looking for a 1st AC, or anything else, please be in touch. Thanks! Mikko
  16. The current ones I have are around 58mm and propably 78A hardness. The size seems to be very good, but wheels are too soft. Would 97A or 99A be good hardness, not too hard?
  17. Hi! I just recently bought some second hand Panavision steel track, and I made a basic platform-dolly with skateboard wheels on it. I bought a set of these wheels for it: http://www.glidegear.net/product/dol...swivel-wheels/ For few shoots they worked good, but this weekend I had some major problems. The wheels got huge bumps on them, when the DP was sitting on the dolly between shots. They are just generally too soft, since they get bumps very easily. Apparently they are made to be used just under a tripod, so that's why the DP sitting on dolly was too much load. The V-brackets are great, so I only need the wheels. My budget would be 100€ maximum. So what's your recommendation for skateboard/rollerblade wheels for dolly track? What size and strength? How about brands?
