  1. I mean the issue right now is simple. The lenses I have access to for screw-mount are odd sizes, and there are no step up ring to be found for 65mm, or 83mm (I do have a filter holder that is 83 screw in). If you knew a person that makes a 65 to 77mm step up ring I am back in business. The adapter has to be more flush than most cine lenses let you get (except zoom lenses). Hence why I would prefer that. Bernie is great but I have talked about similar ideas like this before, he just doesn't have the time. And finally none of the rental houses here in SF got a clue about film cameras anymore. Now it would be different down in LA, but not here. C
  2. My adapter has an 300 degree free spin
  3. Sorry I must be drunk.....way too early. C
  4. You think we are talking hundreds, or thousands of dollars?
  5. Project is at a halt again. Seems all screw in adapters I've gotten is a millimetre off one way or the other. And I know no one that does custom jobs for this. So it's giving up, unless someone has a Nikon adapter to lend me for testing. C
  6. Half right. Never got the adapter. Using a Arri S mount ang 9-57, which worked perfectly before...some slight vignetting. And on front I am mounting my adapter. C
  7. Update on the anamorphic: Today my adapter arrives to test my LG-AG7200 on my Ang 9-57mm I know it isn't a S16 lens, but it is a start at least. I have access to an SR2 Zeiss Zoom as well, and if test today is alright, that is the next competitor. C
  8. Are you sure, never heard of this man. But you are right. This knowledge will soon be impossible to get so keeping an up to date list is important. I'm considering visiting S16 Inc to have them train me as well. We need a new generation of techs.
  9. Well, it isn't really that complicated. He converted a ACL 1.5 to a Super 16 a couple of years ago, but forgot to adjust the shutter. Now the guy I bought the camera from, a man named Volker in Germany, was a very nice man. He even agreed sending it in to Les for another service before I he sent it to me. But when the camera arrived from Bosher, no CLA had been done, nor had he corrected the timing of the camera, or fixed the shutter (Volker did not know of the shutter issue since he screened prints just, never did telecine where the flickering is very obvious unlike prints) I was trying to figuring out was wrong, while using whatever small resources that still existed online. When I eventually found out the “mistake” Mr.Bosher had done, I asked that the seller contacted him as well as me. But he ignored both me and him (he had replied to earlier emails in my troubleshooting stages). Ever since I have at least not recommended him to anyone else. Bernie might have charged me for the repairs that Bosher didn't do, but now my camera works perfectly fine, and all mags run smooth as they should. Mr. Bosher does not seem to care about reputation, nor customer contact/service. So that was it for me. C
  10. I have never heard of this breathing you speak of. And not seen it on any of the eclairs I have operated. This was a result of conversions done by Les Bosher mainly. He is not really reliable when it comes to Eclairs at least, despite being the only repairman in europe. The light leak was a temporary issue with the ones he had converted, otherwise, not an issue at at. The flicker come sometimes occur when the 144 degree shutter was not installed either, or timed correctly. As for english mags, I have never used them. But I have only heard that the few repairmen around will not touch english mags because they are so....unreliable? C
  11. I don't mean to be a stickler for terms but breathe isn't that just referred to the lens? The other is just known as a faulty, or bad pressure plate? And to answer your question, no. Never. However my camera has been taken care of Bernie O'Dohorety so it is happy as one can be. I imagine this is only happening to english mags. Throw and email away to Super16inc and see what he says. I have never heard of it. C
  12. True. I got all the screw in adapters ready. And the diopters arriving this week. C
  13. I might want to take you up on this now, so I can test it out :) /C
  14. I have managed to get the adapter. Now I just need the screw on mount to be used with lenses. And diopters for close up focus. But hopefully by next week I will know. C
  15. Hi there, Looking to attach an anamorphic adapter to the Zeiss Distagon* bayonet mount for Super 16, and also test it out on Zeiss Super Speeds I's to shoot on digital as well. Problem is, I can not find the thread size when I am googling. And looking at the lenses it doesn't seem to be saying anything. C
  16. Did you figure out the size for the front? C
  17. Interesting, worth looking into. But first I might just have some of my friend 3d print something that might work. C
  18. Never. I love the camera. Maybe I wish it run a bit quieter to be sound sync. But it has performed well. I've only shoot 1800 ft since I got it though. But planning to shoot a larger think in a few weeks. And to answer you, yes. I finally got hold on the adapter, and the seller is shipping it next week. If it works out I'll have some amazing anamorphic footage to show. C
  19. Yeah, while not taking apart the camera, and still making it very agile, replacing the viewfinder is the easiest. Also will let me switch between steadicam and sticks quicker. In the long run I rather make it into some sort of a periscope. But making the design work first is step one. Gregg, we have been over this before :) I sadly do not know of any machine-shops in the bay area that can help. I have reached out to a few metal shops, but most have come back empty handed. 3D printing is a temporary idea, but at least in the pre-finished phase it might work. For the first test session I even taped the camera with an adapter. Mine is the odd 1.5 So basically the ACL 1, with the stronger motor. I spoken to Bernie over at Super16 and he said there is more than enough space to mount a XLR, and he has done it a bunch of times. If I get the help from well, maybe someone here who could figure out what nut I need, then I could continue this to the next step. I currently have the Ang Dove prism VF. according to: https://erkanumut.wordpress.com/2015/01/23/eclair-acl/ C
  20. Samuel, well the issue was really money. I have the microscope camera, and I have figured out a way to feed it through (the right distance in the viewfinder). The real issues I have now is a nut that would let me screw on the camera onto the viewfinder mount. The step after that would be converting the ACL to XLR, so I could run both the camera, and the video tap off the XLR on my steadicam op's sled. But yet again, money is the issue. If anyone would like to help me figure out the nut, I am all ears to a solution, and then continue from there on. Because I would love to be able to shoot some smooth moves with this camera. C
  21. I have already had a look for that. None of the contacts I know of make them anymore. I have even posted on this forum.
  22. Do you happen to have any video of this camera running? I am still now sure what I am doing wrong. C
  23. Hi everyone, I'm still getting my grips of understanding film emulsion still. I shoot a lot of S16 for my personal projects and always think there is more to learn. Now I have been looking at alternative light sources, like flares, candles, and specifically glow sticks. Is there anything I should think of, or a specific sources you would suggest me to use I will still do a film test with all this, but I am very curious to learn what you guys can share. Carl
