i hate how the younger fans don't give Lucas the credit he deserves, they all complain about Episodes I & II being horrible, but I actually find them vital in the original saga.
Lucas was a god damn genius, but not for screenwriting. Film making innovations.

I wish you got yourself a life my friend instead of going against the grain for no reason.
I'm not going as extreme as Tyler about this but if you don't put out the seeds of challenging art then momentum never builds to trigger change.
I want the cinematic universe stuff in its current form to end as quickly as possible.

There was no reason for me to waste two hours, but I continued to watch.
Just be cool and walk out to buy $200 sneakers.
6/10 sounds about right, just like Force Awakens. Tons of budget to hire great individual talents, but no driving soul to make it explode on the big screen.
I get more enjoyment out of the prequels simply because the original mind is bringing everything together and nothing feels like a fan film.
Waiting for the big fantasy/big hero movies to enter their own post-modern renaissance where they follow Felicity Jones' character getting groceries but in the Star Wars universe so you could see the politics of the galaxy affect the common man. Like Tyler said, slap "Star Wars" on ANYTHING and people will see it.
May as well go out on that limb.

I was thinking of getting a loan and go to American film school...which is extremely expensive.
Just like... don't do that...quite yet. See if you have an eye for it before you do anything. Entry level equipment is cheaper than ever.

The thing I hope everyone realizes is there are multiple different ways one can rise through the ranks to become the director of wide theatrical releases. Some better than others, but we'll let that bridge become a 6 page argument when we cross it.
Whichever avenue you take, ensure you're extremely proactive, always available, business-minded, and remember to finish any projects you start.
Don't call yourself good until others say it first. Then work to make sure they remember it.
As for a degree, if you're not Mister Moneybags, try a technical school, or make friends who can teach you. Call me Kanye West but I feel universities are scams for most majors.

If you have either of these 2 items and are willing to sell used, please message me.
Thank you.

If there's a part where your interview is saying "And all the firemen rushed to take care of the problem" and you have footage of said firetrucks (not for that fire) I don't see much of a problem.
I'd say the only time it's okay to show visuals which aren't directly displaying the current speaking subject, is when that "unrelated" footage is still taken from the general subject of the documentary.
But never do footage which is both not from the subject at hand and not related to the current words playing on the speakers. You break both of those and your picture becomes somewhat of a parody of itself.

If you were looking to avoid a gas guzzler you could get one of those Volvos with the deep hatchbacks.

They forgot the first minute of the Good Burger intro.

Buying a lens off eBay will always be a gamble though I guess.. unless they have some sort of guarantee system..?
I talked to the company and they have 30day return policy. When I bought my HL59 off them, the tube extending the viewfinder was cracked and they're sending me a new viewfinder for free.

Any of the B4 experts have a take on these three lenses?

I'm not attempting to justify any dishonesty in asking this, but would it be fair to say a 1080p image would blow up very similarly to a 2K image if projected onto a large screen?
-
I have a 47" Sony Bravia 1080P monitor. The image is great but it has developed a thin vertical blue line on the left side of the screen...
How long ago did you get it? I was thinking of purchasing a Bravia for a while.
-
Whenever I do a quick edit job for someone and resolution is brought up, I tell them it's a 2k finish even though half the time I'm just doing 1080p. I've never gotten a complaint from doing this, but I was just wondering how crucial the difference is and if you've ever had a client be a real stickler over it?
Thanks.

Hope they do She's All That soon!

Is this exclusively an LA thing?
Good Fellas or Raging Bull might be something cool to see at that theater. While he might be the best to ever shoot a visual, I can't think of a single Kubrick film I can sit through entirely.

Don't forget about us when you're on top, man.

British actor who pronounced Milpitas as Mill-Pie-tas. The correct pronunciation is Mill-Pee-tus. He did another take.
Beyond that I can't see the issue with actors from any corner of the world working on any shoot where needed.
For more minor roles I don't see an issue. And there are British actors who can absolutely nail any accent. But as a 'proud' American, I hear a major difference between Hugh Laurie in "House MD" and Emma Watson in "Perks of Being A Wallflower".
On the flip side I'm sure Brits wouldn't receive it too well if Johnny Knoxville starred in a London shot film with a fake sounding British accent.

I got the Ikegami HL-59, since it seemed like a steal on that eBay link. And this didn't immediately occur to me, but yeah white balance seems like it'd be a total pain when my only in camera reference shows no hues.
Things on my list to get right now are:
-A B4 Lens
-Something that can convert the signal coming from that SDI port to an Atomos Ninja
-A Battery and charger
For the last 2, what is the general battery life for these cameras? Can the battery get charged while the DC power is in the camera? Any battery brands to avoid?
And lastly, does anyone have a recommended set of gear to go about converting the camera's output to digital on the fly?
Thanks a ton for all your help. I'm nearing the end of this equipment journey.

Hey just got this thing. Is the viewfinder supposed to be black and white by default for these broadcast cameras?
Thanks.

A ViewSonic 24" LCD computer monitor.
I have a 42" Samsung 1080p "3D Ready" flat screen, but I use it maybe once a week.

My set was worth $1100. Bid ended at $850

Yash Im sure you will make it sir... when you are inevitably on that first shoot as director.. don't ever do that making a frame with your hands thing.. or suddenly swish your finger out when you want to cut.. there will be much sniggering and uncomplimentary banter behind your back.. a joke.. but serious too.. :)..
I've never said "action" or "cut" on a set before. It's corny to me.

You really gotta start and getting your hands dirty with a cheap camera before all else. Produce shorts constantly and the process of "learning from your mistakes" is mathematically practical within a smaller amount of time.
Once you've fabricated your own experiences, I personally recommend the online content of Shane Hurlbut and the online Masterclass from Werner Herzog.
All in all, make sure you have the time and ability to simply practice in general. If you don't apply what you're learning from the recommended resources, you may as well spend your time playing video games or something.

But wasn't Empire received better and not written by him? Then the next time he manned the typewriter everyone was upset? Storytelling and screenwriting aren't completely identical entities.
