Has anyone had any experience with a camera that have been converted to Super16?

What are their short comings if any???

Shooting Super16... does anyone experience a vignetting issue???

what a wonderful story... My First camera was a Brownie 8mm in 1968... it had frame by frame capability so i shot everything in stop action... ( i have the patience of Jobe) and that landed me a job in an animation studio. The animation studio supported the larger larger commercial film production facility. So I got to enjoy Arri's and and Michell 35mm and from there went to Hanna-Barbara. Hated that and move to CGI... which in the the 1970's was still in it infancy. if you wanted to do anything you need to write the code or get it from the government or NASA. There we spent over a year trying to understand the differences between film and video. That in itself is another story... But that was when I got my first Bolex.

did you pay over $1,000 for it (if I may ask)... body only? H16 or REX?

not necessarily true... i see lots folks shooting standard 16mm with a LPS camera...so they are out there...

it's only money... the more features the more the cost... such is life... lots of folks can't afford $1500... reflex and non-reflex...

UPDATE... spoke with shurco and sent specs... they say they do not support Bolex... but they would review my plans and see if it fell within limitations of the process. So waiting to get a reply from shurco.

Looks like production is proceeding with the conversion movement. Plans are to have the first prototype completed in early 2017. Several issues still to be resolved are:

Ground Glass Marking: what style of crop lines and marking are preferred?

Reflex VS Non-reflex: There are many non-reflex Bolex cameras available that are 3X4 - 16mm. IF the camera was converted to 16X9 - Super16 it possible to attach a reflex C-mount lens and still have a more affordable Reflex Super16 camera. Thoughts?

I have here a Bolex H16 Supreme model. The camera is in excellent working condition (SN# 104670) made in 1954. and has been TESTED by shooting 16mm film with it. The results were GOOD. The camera threads/loads easily and runs smoothly. All the glass/view finder are clean and clear of fungus. The camera threads/loads easily. Includes a 100' take up spool and the the Bolex Octameter Director's viewfinder. A great accessory to check your shots at 16, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150mm viewing depths. I'm asking $175. USD - OBO plus shipping.

NOTE: I timed camera with a full wind and set at 24 FPS... RUN TIME: 26 sec. + - one second... The springs drives strong and consistent.

NOTE: the camera has been recently serviced and lubricated and tested by the Dr.Bolex Camera Service within the past 60 days. Please feel free to ask about any details.

Hello there Friends of the Bolex...

Anyone have any experience with conversion cameras to super16? (Specifically BOLEX H16) Also older Bolex cameras are not reflex, so, could super16 non-reflex be useful?

I'm looking into get one but not sure if they will work...
