WTB American Cinematographer back issues
Daniel D. Teoli Jr. replied to Daniel D. Teoli Jr.'s topic in Cine Marketplace
Update: Have bought enuf modern mags. Only interested in 1960's and earlier. -
YouTube left it up for a few months, then last night removed it and banned me again. Do you think Vimeo will accept it? So far Vimeo has had no issues with nudes I've put up, but this film has explicit content. 'Prescription for Love' nsfw https://archive.org/search.php?query=Prescription%20For%20Love%20D.%20D.%20Teoli%20Jr.%20A.%20C. This is a historical 16mm vintage sound stag film containing explicit content that was rescued from the trash after being water damaged from a Florida hurricane. The film was extremely dirty and had to be cleaned 5 times before I had it 2K HD scanned. Synopsis of film: A young newlywed couple is having intercourse difficulties. They visit the doctors office and the doctor and office receptionist teach them about lovemaking. According to the code on the film stock it dates from either 1931 or 1951. As a very rough estimate, only 4% to 6% of the stag films from the 1920's to 1950's had sound.

Interested in buying American Cinematographer magazine back issues. Prefer large lots. Can pay $2 to $3 per vintage issue plus reasonable shipping to WV. Older dates are $3, later dates are $2. No moldy, water damage or messed up mags. I'm looking for film era mags. Not that interested in modern issues, but will still buy them at $1.50 an issue.

OP, don't know? I don't go to all that many movies anymore. I went to the 2 last Star Wars and some other one I can't remember. I get the DVD's for free from the library and watch at home...as many movies as I like from the entire state full of libraries. I like films like High Noon, La Strada, Godfather. Lots of the old school BW where they had to make it on acting and a story. Recently saw Naked City and loved it. I don't like all the bullshit, super human special effects movies that are beyond reality. All they have is special effects as far as I'm concerned. It is like these guys that take photos with a ND filter on their cams and blur up the water to look smoky. They all start looking the same.

Wow, sounds exciting! 35.4 megapixels stills? What is the single frame mp image size when shot at normal speed?

Looking for a good quality 16mm projector
Daniel D. Teoli Jr. replied to Jordi Dolcet's topic in 16mm
Any updates for 2018? I'm looking for a couple of 16mm sound projectors. Reliable, decent output, non spaghetti eating and easy to maintain. -
Yes, forgot about that, but people can use makeup. Anyone trying to make a phony can't have girls with tats in it.I did a large project on girls from the beat generation. Only 1 or 2 gals had little tats out of thousands. Now the girls got everything pierced...nipples, their privates, down their throat...Jesus what a metal mess! I don't know if the imdb is always 100% either. I got a film called Gerite the Grapfruit Girl. The imdb has a listing for Gertie The Grapefruit Girl and Friends as 1969. This does not have the 'friends' at end, but it looks like 1950's more than 1969 to me. nsfw https://filmarchivedanieldteolijrarchivalcollection.wordpress.com/2018/01/27/gertie-the-grapefruit-girl-starring-virginia-ding-dong-bell/ Really sad all this history is being lost from not that long ago.

Software to extract JPEG's from DVD?
Daniel D. Teoli Jr. replied to Daniel D. Teoli Jr.'s topic in Post Production
Thanks for the replies and photos. Oh, I should have said I got Windows. Those sample photos are pretty low res. The one is 40kb. http://www.cinematography.com/cine-uploads/monthly_01_2018/post-3-0-52693100-1516949232.jpg Did you reduce the res or is 40kb about all it will produce? Funny, the Nero sample was higher res but it suffered from posterization - although it was in color. Color files tend to eat up more mb for the same bang compared to black and white, but I don't know how much the difference is. I'm just going by flat bed photo scans and it may be different for video. I'm just learning about video software. In the past I just shot the still from my TV screen. Here is one from Godzilla. https://danieldteolijrarchivalcollection.files.wordpress.com/2017/08/godzilla-d-d-teoli-jr-24.jpg?w=660 You get good practice shooting fast action by shooting your TV screen...but I don't need the practice. I'd much rather rip the stills off the DVD if I can get easy and decent quality stills. PS..Godzilla still was PP'd in Lightroom, they don't look that good straight out of the cam. -
What is a good software to extract JPEG's from a DVD? Will it give decent jpegs? At least 400kb or more? Thanks

An early NY Photo League exhibit from the 1940's showcasing photographs by Weegee. https://danieldteolijrarchivalcollection.wordpress.com/2018/01/25/weegee-at-the-ny-photo-league/

Yes Sam, plausible explanation. Whenever I see the term ripping...I think of 'ripping off!' I got a cheap lease car and it wont even play CD's. Honda told me CD players are history unless you special order them. He said everyone plays music with their phone nowadays. I'm still in the stone age...no smart phone, no Bluetooth. I got to convert all my CD's to a thumb drive to play in the car. But my crappy radio does not give any info on what I am playing. I used to copy old vids, but I figure I'm old and if now is not a goodtime to see the best quality I can see in DVD's then when is?? The only time a lower grade copy interests me is if I can't get the original and I can only get a copy from the library.

I got many hundred historical sex and non-sex films to archive and have no decent venue to put them online. I got banned from YouTube after only 6 uploads. Here is the film that broke that camels back at YouTube. A few hours after positing it, YT banned me. The film has no sex, just historical nudity from the beatnik era. It was also put up to show what type of quality you get when using a Wolverine 8mm film scanner. (The answer is low quality.) nsfw Link removed by admin.

I don't know if I liked the movie or not. Kinda hard to follow for an ADD like me. ...but I loved the 3 min dance scene!

Comments on my work / New to the forum
Daniel D. Teoli Jr. replied to Jason Battersby's topic in Please Critique My Work
OP...they look very good. But I didn't watch them all, just bits and pieces of them. I found the first one a little boring for me, but I got ADD so I may not be the best critique for fairness. You comp and IQ was very good. I am not into landscapes much, so I preferred the people, the ones with actual people not just feet walking. Sure, I understand you are injecting art, but it just did not appeal to me that much to hold my attention. I do street and documentary still photos and manage a small gauge film archive. This is more of the style I am into, so you can see, where I'm coming from in my critique. Candid... https://danielteolijr.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/21whoop-whoop-21-daniel-d-teoli-jr-mr.jpg To me IQ only so goes far, I like something interesting happening. When you shoot off the cuff things are not perfect. I'm also prejudiced to using super wides. I specialize in shooting candid in your face photos. I'd tell you to keep up the work, you got talent!
