  1. Hi David: Thank you for your informative response and suggestions. I would look into it soon. I will also see these films now to make a learning and assessment. I appreciate your response and thank you for your time, Regards Krishna Chandar
  2. Good day and thank you in advance for contributing to this request. I am planning to do a low budget feature using a professional DV Cam or HD Cam and then transfer it to film. I want to some guidance on: 1. Whether the quality will be acceptable to view on a large screen? 2. What kind of draw backs? Any Granularity, Contrast ratio and resolution factor degradations? 3. Which existing camera's can do this job to the most acceptable form? (please give me some names/models) 4. What kind of charges to transfer the footage in north America? (would like to get it on 35mm) 5. Any films that have already been made and were successful? (Please provide some names) Any other valuable advice is welcome. Sincerely Krishna
  3. Hi Robert: Thank you for your detailed information. Where do they conduct the 2 day workshop. It would be great if you can help me with some potential web links. I apperciate your guidance and thanks again for the help. Krishna
  4. Thanks Stephen. I will look into it. Good luck with your projects. Any help in Canada let me know. Krishna
  5. Thanks for your time first of all! I was wondering if someone can guide me with some school names, reasonable fee and any other details on steadicam Training. I would appreciate any guidance. Thanks Kris
  6. Hi Damien: Charecteristic curves depict the way emulsion responds to light intensities. The best way to compare this is to relate a scene to your eye. our eyes can distinguish and still record brightness variations with details to great ranges. Let's say if eyes can do a variation of 1-100 film may not be able to do the same. C.Curves tell us its efficiency range called latitude (a property within which it can accomodate the brightness variations or intensities with best comparable results) and how emulsions can respond to lighting variations. In order to get the best results close to what our eyes can see, film and lighting levels should act in cohesion. As a photographer, understanding what a film could do and controling lighting levels accordingly is one of the great techno aesthetic factors. In short it is a scale showing how much of response a film has to the lighting levels. I hope this helps and I am sure other experienced peers have more to say. Krishna Arunachalam
  7. Thank you David. Could you please tell me what kind of HD cams they used? Are they like prosumer types or the high end ones? Thanks for your time. Krishna
  8. Digital is evolving day by day. Film was invented years ago and surprised everyone at that time. We are set to that trend and of course film went through lots of changes, variations and stayed calm after. Now that Digital and High definition technologies are emerging as technological advent, I feel a database of HD to film should be there. This will help and guide the newcomers to this technology. Could someone provide me with some films that I can go to a theatre now and see? I mean, any films that have been shot on HD and transferred to film and that are playing on theatres now. Krishna
  9. Thank you for your valuable advice. Do you know where I can get a real transferred footage to view on screen? Does anyone have any websites, links for me to approach? I am talking about HDV transferred film footage that any company sends out as demo reel. Thanks a lot again, Krishna
  10. Hello friends, I have recently been invited to do a project on DV and then transfer to film. I would like to have some good advise regarding cameras that are good and the quality of the final output on film. Can I get some test footage on projects done already from some companies? If someone can provide me some links it would be great. Thank you for your kind support and time, Krishna Arunachalam
