  1. I have a whole bunch of rolls of S16mm film from a project of undetermined length. The rolls themselves are all of varying length -- short ends joined together at the lab during processing into rolls of varying sizes. I need to figure out how much film I have in total. Is there an equation which relates the radius of a roll to its length? That is, if a particular roll is 12 inches in diameter, is there any formula that tells me I have roughly, say, 700 feet of film on the roll? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
  2. For Sale: One awesome Angenieux 15-150 T1.9 zoom lens. You read that correct -- T1.9! Covers Super16 all the way. These things are somewhat of a hidden gem. Very sharp -- approaching Zeiss sharpness (just ask Paul at Visual Products -- then check their price on a T3 version of this lens). This is a huge lens -- very close in size to the 25-250 -- and not to be confused with the smaller version on par with the 12-120 Angie. Check out the comparison here: http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=18836 (NOTE: The lens mentioned in this post is NOT the lens I'm selling.) Please have a look at the photos. You can see the condition is excellent, except there is NO MOUNT on the lens. Simply have Visual Products, Bernie or any other lens guru add a PL mount and you're set. A great, sharp lens that covers Super 16 at an absolute FRACTION of the price of a comparable Zeiss zoom. I'm asking $450.
  3. Sold! Enjoy your new camera, Chris! Thanks to all who inquired.

  5. Hey Karl: Not in the least! Just thinning down my gear while I'm in period of writing and editing. Craig

  7. I'm putting my personal Zeiss set up for sale: 9.5mm 12mm 16mm 25mm All are Arri B-mount, one has a fixed PL mount. EXCELLENT condition! See the photos below. The lenses were a bit dusty and I didn't have a lens cleaner handy, but the glass is in pristine, excellent condition. No issues here. Great for RED 2K! Price: $4500. Drop me an email or personal message.

  9. Actual colored revolving lights aren't that expensive either. A quick Google search (for "revolving police lights") brought up the following for $37 bucks: http://www.coolsafetyproducts.com/site/898652/page/575806
  10. Sold! Thanks for looking, everyone. Enjoy the lens, Tom!
  11. Thanks, Roger! I gotta use some of that money to become a sustaining member and get the larger mailbox...
  12. Sorry about that, Roger. I happened to get two messages today and my inbox filled up. Yes, the kit is the actual HD-144 kit. Here are some pictures of the instruction manual and the parts still in their plastic wrapping. Just let me know if you have any other questions.
  13. C'mon, guys! $249, final reduction. I'd much rather sell it on here than eBay!
  14. Price Drop: $275, free ground shipping anywhere in the lower 48. Did I mention that this this is in GREAT shape!!
  15. An actor friend of mine just moved to Atlanta and is having some initial difficulty figuring out who the legitimate casting agencies are. He got roped into a few that left a bad taste in his mouth and now he's even looking into something called "Talent6" online. It looks like a scam to me. Anyway, I'd like to give him some advice and hoped some people here in the forum might be able to give me a few names of casting agencies I could send his way. He's done a variety of things, has worked all over the place, and has an ok demo reel -- not Hollywood quality, but solidly amateur -- . I'd just like to help him figure out where to focus his energies. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  16. I forgot to mention: This lens is a superfast 1.8 and they used to retail for over $1400 at BHPhoto!
  17. I've got a GREAT Schneider-Kreuznach 10mm C-Mount lens for sale. It's in perfect condition, not a scratch on the glass anywhere, the threads are in excellent shape, and has front and back lens caps. Focus and iris are both working beautifully. I used this lens on my S16 Eclair for several years and it's performed wonderfully. It absolutely covers Super16. Tried, tested, and telecined. No issues at all. Beautiful! I'm sad to see it go, but I'm offering it here because I know it'll be put to good use and continue to make beautiful images! The first person who wants it gets it! I'm asking $300. Here are some photos (the dots in the lens in the photo are dust particles, not scratches - the glass is perfect!):
  18. Hi Tom: EXCELLENT looking footage! Very nice. One question about your workflow to circumvent codec issues: Do you get the transfer back from the lab as a series of stills, or are you doing that conversion yourself after the transfer is completed? I'm doing a S16->HD transfer shortly and your workflow would be perfect for my situation. I assume you must be having the lab do the frame sequence export, but I haven't seen that as an export format yet at the places I've been looking into. Cheers.
  19. Very nice! That motor is definitely an ACL 2 motor and will handle the 400' mags with ease. I've had 2 ACLs and I've loved them both. I recently got a S16 ACL 2 and I'm getting great results from it. Enjoy your camera and be sure to post some Ultra 16 shots when you get them back. A lot of people on here would like to see, I'm sure. (Also, as an FYI, I just put up a Super16 Conversion Kit in the Classified section. Might be of interest if want to go Super16 some day!) Happy filming!
  20. I've got an extra Super16 Conversion kit for the Eclair ACL for sale. I bought a couple and have one left over. It's the HD-144 kit -- the one Bernie O'Doherty specializes in installing. Comes with everything you need -- new S16 gate, flange, shutter, step-by-step instructions, new 16x9 round glass markings, etc. Retails at $650. I'll sell it for $499 + free shipping anywhere in North America! Get it now and convert that old ACL of yours to Super16 once and for all! You know you want to! :)
  21. Thanks for the suggestions, Saul. The lens I have is actually a 15-150, but it's a rare type a tiny bit larger than a 25-250. I just wrote 25-250 so people would have a concept of the size of the lens without having to write a detailed explanation of my 15-150. (Pictures of that lens on this thread, next to a regular old 12-120. It's since been converted to a PL mount.) I'm overjoyed with the lens. Unbelievably sharp for a lens of this type. Cuts very well with my SuperSpeeds and that isn't a joke. Call Paul in the lens department at Visual Products and ask him about it! Certainly not as sharp, but much closer than I had ever imagined it would be. Anyway, so I use the ACL with this zoom/rod supports and a Superspeed prime package. Otherwise, my Eclair is pretty bare bones -- no videotap, no on-board batteries, nothing special. It's probably under 20 pounds, but it's just the torque of the lens that was a problem in the past. I don't want to go overboard with a massive head (nor can I afford to) -- an O'Connor 50D was a bit too big -- but I don't want to get a dinky DV setup either. The 516 Bogen/Manfrotto setup seems to be on the borderline, but I realize it's a total pro-sumer rig. That's why I thought I'd ask around for opinions.
