  1. If you don´t want to clap every scene you could use a small device that produces parallel to your recording a 1000 Hz beep for every frame on your digital recorder. The flash contact of the camera is needed and the xlr(in my case) contact of the recorder(has to provide 48 Volt). It works good. You should´t use the first and the last few frames of the Super 8 cartridge to have an accurate beginning. Disadvantage: the camera is connected to the recorder. Perhaps someone in the US will produce such an item too. 2. Be sure that the lens has an A(Auto) and M(manual) switch. Don´t buy an electric version, e.g. the Zeiss Pancolar 50mm 1,8 exists in 2 versions. The pins of the electric version could(not all) snag with the 4 srews of your camera mount. I have made this experience. I have a Tokina 17mm 3,5 ,20mm 2.8(!) Zeiss Jena Flektogon (expensive), a 28 mm Revuenon, the Pancolar and a Zeiss Jena Tessar, a Pentacon 135 mm 2,8. They all are sharp, but produce different colors. The wide angle lenses(which ist normal in 16mm) are of course more expensive. I wouldn´t widen to ultra16 but super16.
  3. Hello, perhaps the Fuji Velvia Daylight(!!) reversal film ISO 50/18 is soonly(April 2006) available. Look here. unfortunatly not in english. http://www.german.film-super8.de/ click "Neuigkeiten"
