  1. Looking for a HD shooter (w/ gear) who can give a talk/demo to a group (20-30) of educational video producers in Orlando this September. Looking for someone who can talk about making the jump from SD (beta) to HD and issues (lighting, composition, sound etc.) that follow.
  2. Thanks for the link. I'm a big Lynch fan. Just read his book "Catching the Big Fish".

    OTA HD

Anyone here had experience w/ picking up the HD signal from your local stations? I picked up a HD tuner and hooked it up to my non-HD tv. I was only able to pick up one broadcast, (using rabbit ears) much to my surprise. In the past, I have been able to pick up all my regular local channels w/ just rabbit ears. I was told that on my non-HD tv, the picture would be letterboxed and would look slightly better than SD. This turns out to be true. The HD PBS station does look better. It was my understanding that a stations DTV signal (which is how the HD signal is transmitted) is stronger. Does not seem to be the case. I'm curious as to what is more important, the tuner or the antenna. It could just be the tuner I have is not the best. I did hook the tuner to my dads HD-ready tv. The picture looked pretty good, but again I was surprised that I could not pick up anymore stations than usual.
  4. I have the DSR-450. It tends to shoot a little hot, so I have grown to use zebras and not use auto iris. There is an adjustment on the auto iris that allows up to open/close the auto iris by one stop, but it does not 'hold' - once you power off the camera, you lose that (page 55/56 of the instructions). It looks like the other option is to tweak 'select the automatic iris window'. Any idea where it should be set to? You can adjust it so that you decide where 'light detection occurs'. I shoot educational stuff as well as 'news' stuff. I would like to be able to use (or at least have the option) to use auto iris when shooting b-roll for news. Even inside, under a nice refa light I get hot video if I use the auto iris, which tells me something, somewhere is off.
