  1. Too bad you missed the thread that was going earlier, it was good for a laugh. He threated multiple members lives, swore profoundly at me and other members and now he emailed me and asked me to 'clear his name' and 'then he'll call me'. uh-huh. He told me he could not access his paypal account and that he would do a bank to bank transfer so he could send me the money. What the heck, I'll give him a chance. I sent him my information and he posted it in the last thread saying "... this information would be useful for some people in africa". I don't know who I am dealing with...
  2. The user and seller goes by many names primarily RELLY/ROMEO MAHANGI, Piet Dolf. Website is www.jmfilmequipment.com On EBAY he has many names- main selling company is ALLFILMMARKET He claims to be based in Rotterdam. I was sold an eclair NPR package with filters, rods, matte box, (pretty much everything!) and a 15-150 ang. lens. I gave him nearly $1700 USD. 3 Months have passed and he has not sent the camera or returned my money to me. My attempts to resolve the issue have been ignored. I warned the seller -multiple times- that if this was not resolved, I would go public about the way he is -not- handling the situation. He thought I was bluffing. He since then threatened my life and my company. He never sent the equipment and has since resold some of the equipment privately and through ebay. If you are considering purchasing something from this buyer, feel free to contact me (PM) or via website (has my email listed) and I will have no problem giving you a run down on what he has done. More information can be found on a thread on here: http://www.filmshooting.com/scripts/forum/...pic.php?t=17173 I don't want someone else to go through what I've had to go through.
  3. Also be aware that quality control in processing needs to be as tight, if not tighter on super 8 as every single spec that doesn't get cleaned of properly in the processing. Imperfections will be vastly more noticeable than if it were on a 35mm frame. Like comparing dust mites to golf balls ;)
  4. Hey, Looking for a super 16 lens, CA-1/camflex mount, cmount or arri mount.. could be other.. will need to modify it for an eclair NPR. Also looking ideally for a perfectone compact npr motor. PM me if you have anything! Thanks,
  5. Cool, Cool. I've got a bolex RX zoom EE (or OE) 18-86 lens for sale if you're interested. Also have 2 mags with new motors I'm getting rid of. I actually just sent my NPR and some lenses over to bernie. I need to find a perfectone compact motor and some super 16 lenses, if anyone has something, PM me!
  6. Hey Miles, thanks for the link. Well, I have no more good information. He has another name "MR.ANTHONY from RPM FILMS". I have filed two claims with paypal, but he has no money in his account that I bought it from so, I have only gotten back .90$ of the $1700 USD he has taken from me. I was purchasing an ECLAIR NPR camera package and a 15-150 angineux lens. He told me that he was angry and if I cancelled my paypal claim, he would ship me my camera. I spoke with paypal and they heavily advised against that. If I remove the claim, there is NO WAY to re-file a claim. -with paypal, you can file a 'dispute' where you first try and resolve the problem with the seller, or you can escalate it to a 'claim' where paypal steps in and resolves the problem for you.
  7. Hey Sean, Thanks for the offer. I've decided to pack up the bolex. After many failed attempts, I've decided to wait and have it serviced properly. I visited Christoph in Berlin, and he kindly set me up with a 310xl and 4 rolls of b/w reversal super 8. Still not sure if I'll cross process it as a neg or go the reversal route so I can project it. Thanks to everyone for their advice and suggestions over the past few weeks! I just arrived in Hungary/ Budapest, quite a different world here...
  8. Shutter spins freely now. noise is back to normal. shutter was on T in the new video. no resistance, spins smoothly. Something is not right with the variable shutter I believe.
  9. against some suggested advice, I opened up the camera. Posted updated video which may help someone diagnose the problem, or compare it to the shutter movement on their bolex. Heck, its going to have to get serviced either way...
  10. took a look at the shutter and it appears to not be moving out of the way. The shutter must be getting jammed somehow. Does anyone know how to dissasemble (safely) the shutter and access it, or know what the problem may be?
  11. Hey again, Here is a new clip of the bolex running, maybe this will tell you more. www.framediscreet.com/video/bolex (june 23rd files) thanks again, Justin
  12. Hey, Thanks for the tips. I have uploaded a QT video of the camera sound and operational problems. 1 clip is of the outside of the camera running at 24fps. The other is of the film running through the film path at 12fps. You can tell she's sick when you hear the sound she makes :( Maybe this will help in diagnosis. www.framediscreet.com/video/bolex Thanks guys,
  13. Thanks guys, here's the latest update: I've managed to free up the camera. I used a knife to rotate the 1:1 rewind shaft. However, it does not purrrr like a kitten. It chug-chug-chugs quite loudly. I am worried. Do you know what might be causing this? I have noticed a gear under the spot where the pressure plate screws in that is not centered under the screw, but this may be normal. It is taking up film normally (I sacrificed a roll to watch the movement). Any thoughts? Should I try putting wd40 or some kind of sewing machine oil into the camera? Thanks!
  14. Well, tried the jiggling trick, no luck. Maybe this problem is more routed in the 'engage' switch for the motor MOT/ O switch. That feels rather loose. Though if the trigger isn't working properly, it could be causing the MOT/ O switch to not be working. Kind of like the question, :"what came first the chicken or the egg..." any other ideas?
  15. Bolex rex5, trigger not responding anymore. Was shooting a 48fps shot, no problem. (Using the spring wind, no batteries) Switched motor to "O" with a full wind, put camera away. Switched motor "MOT", set camera to 18fps. Pull trigger, "CLICK" and nothing happens. 1. When I push in the trigger nothing engages. 2. (may not be an issue) noticed that when I switch down to "O" on the side of the bolex there is resistance- that is normal. If i switch to "MOT" there is no resistance. The switch flops around in between the "MOT" sign to about the 9 o'clock position. It was recommended that i try spraying some wd40 into the "release selection control (M STOP P) control. Any help would really be appreciated... I'm SOL out here in KALMAR, SWEEDEN, I don't know what to do! Heading to budapest on Monday via train... hope to get 'er working before then..
  16. JMFILMEQUIPMENT.COM- is an internet scam. Seller goes by many names: REILLY MAHANGI, ROMEO, PIET DOLF, ROBIN, ANDREAS. He is on ebay as MONAREL, and _may_ be related to the ebay seller allfilmmarket . He referenced equipment on that person's website and they are both located in the netherlands and both have the last name Mahangi. If you want to know more information or have also been involved with this seller please leave a message or PM me. We're in the process of filing fraud charges. Beware!
  17. I'm getting an eclair NPR modified to S16, looking to buy a lens package or sharp zoom lens that will cover the s16 frame. Accepts cmount or Camflex mount, or can be adapted to that type. PM me if you've got something, Thanks!
  18. Looking to set myself up with a s16 cam package that is quiet and has variable shutter angles. Currently looking for an NPR, but open to visiting other options. Please contact me via PM or email one_lovell(@)yahoo.ca (remove the () when emailing). Thanks
  19. Hey Jason, Thanks for the kind words. I'm just starting out on my newest project which will be a mix of s8, 16 and 35 covering parkour/street running in a 'snowboard style' video approach. Still working out some of the major details with some sponsors and cinematographers who are getting involved in the project. Rock on.
  20. Not when I watched it. Maybe after a second viewing.. in slow mo. ;)
  21. Speaking of auto iris.... on a side note, I just watched 'gridiron .. something or other..." it was that movie where the rock is the football coach. anyways, the had a huge iris pull in one scene where he walks into a building from outside in the sun to get some flowers from the team for his mother. As he enters the building, the camera is over his shoulder and they pull with the iris to correct for the exposure difference from outside. The cooler shot is when he leaves the building. The camera is on his face (steadycam, walking backwards) as he walks out of the building and into the sun. They do an iris pull and there is no shift in the exposure on his face at all. The background (interior of the building) just goes to black as he enters the sun. I'm bet they ramped it during the telecine, but either way, it looked super smooth.
  22. hah, well I've since found a tech that can service the 1014, but at the time I needed a camera I could rely on.
  23. I've since gotten rid of the camera. Would be interesting to have around for 'flicker effect' if it were consistent. Sorry I can't say if it happened at different shutter angles, I never got around to testing that.
  24. xls. it was the shutter. intermittent, and cut across the frame on an angle.
