  1. Hi, I remember having read on this forum that all Arri standard mount lenses could be not compatible between Arriflex 16S and Arriflex 35 2C. If I buy an arri standard mount lens, am I sure that it will fit on my Arriflex 16S ? Could I have a problem with the distance between the rear part of the lens and the position of the mirror ? Thank you for your information Stéphane
  2. Thank you for your answer. I found the video hereafter that illustrate exactly your process. However, the problem is to identify when it occurs, which is not evident. And also I would like to know the risk. That's why I wanted to hear about other feedbacks. Thank you
  3. Hi, I intend to shoot a short film in super 8 pretty soon. Do someone have experienced problems with Kodak cartridges, jam or blocking films ? It seems that it can occur nowadays. I did last year and wouldn’t like to have it again. Thank you for your feedback. Stéphane
  4. Thank you very much Dom, for this site. I had already read precisely your posts on Arrriflex 16st and Arriflex IIC on your cinetinker site. They are my bedside books. But I didn't know the Arriflex II service manuals. The three talk about measuring FFD but not adjusting it. In fact, I dismantled the turret of my Arriflex 16M and found a couple of very very thin washers. I thought maybe there were the mean of adjusting the distance of the whole turret from the body and thus from the film plane. Do you think so ?
  5. Dear all, On Arriflex with turret (Arriflex 16ST, 16M, 35xx), when you check the focal flange depth and find a wrong depth, what is the solution to correct it. Thank you in advance. Stéphane
  6. Dear all, Bolex cameras are worldwide used. I personally owns a BOLEX H16 REX3 But I realize that with its technical principles of beamsplitter behind the lens, shooting and focus a moving target is more and more difficult as the aperture closes. That is the case when using a 500 ASA film in daylight. The variable shutter permits only to win one stop of aperture. The auxiliary lateral viewer permits to follow a moving target but not to adapt the focus. Is film sensitivity the only solution ? How do you manage this question ? Thank you for your advice.
  7. Hi Tim, what price do you ask ? thank you. stephane
  8. Hi everybody, I bought metric type screws and it works well. With standardized dimensions named M2, M2.5, M3, etc. That defines diameter and threads. Unfortunately, there are plenty of types on this camera. Some, like the M2.2 are difficult to find in France. But metric types definitely work.
  9. After having measured with a caliper one of the screws that hold the body, these measures are : 2,18mm of diameter and 8,3 mm length. - 2,18mm diameter is not a standard metric size. It corresponds to 0,085 inch. - for 8,3mm length, I counted by hand 18 threads. 18 threads on 8,3mm corresponds to approximatively 55 threads per inch. On the site of McMaster-car, I read that 0,086 inch of diameter ans 56 threads per inch is a standard inch threads size named "2-56". Hence, it seems to me that Arriflex screws could be an inch system of measurement and not metric. However, I will test a metric size screw to check if it penetrate well in the hole.
  10. Hi everybody, I just bought 3 motors en eBay : - 1 single speed 24 im/s - 1 Perfectone type MC3 - 1 Crystal sync with its module Tobin TXM-7 (not TXM-17) The latter 2 are not described on the site Arri16S.com. Does anyone knows their specificities ? The single speed 24 im/s doesn't work. I am to dismantle it with a tuto I found on this forum but before, I wanted to know why it has 2 electric poles whereas the variable motor I also own has only one pole. Thank you for your information.
  11. Hi everybody I would like to change some screws on my Arriflex 16M body. Does anyone knows the type of screws used on these older types of Arriflex ? metric vs inches ? number of threads per mm vs per inch ? Thread peaks ? Etc. Thanking you in advance.
  12. Hi to everybody. I would like to evoke a subject often adressed in this forum. The question of the lubrification of older Arriflex cameras like Arri 16ST or 16M, 35 IIC etc. Dom Jaeger answered extensively in this forum, for instance in its post from 7/01/2021. And in his tutorial on his blog Cinetinker, He explained using mainly Isoflex LDS 18/05 and Chronosynth 1/8. These grease are difficult to provide. And it seems only Arri produce or produced them. Kluber produces Isoflex LDS 18 but it is maybe not the same as 18/05. I was wondering what were the alternatives. Why it is not possible to find greases on the market which mechanics characteristics would correspond to Isoflex LDS 18/05 and Chronosynth 1/8 ? What do you think of it. Has anyone have found some ? Thank you in advance. Stéphane
