  1. I know there are many Krasnogorsk haters on this forum but I wanted to share this awesome project by Russian DP Max Ivanov. It's been 2 years in the works and so much effort has been put into this with a ton of custom machined parts and boards. Here are the specs as shared on the Instagram page for the project: - Camera works with 7-12V batteries (it has a 2-pin lemo connector for power input) - Swiss 100 watt BLDC Motor. (BLDC motors have longer service life and were installed on the Aaton A Minima, XTR Prod, Arri 416.) - Motor controlled and stabilized by a microcontroller - Sync is accurate to 0.001fps at 25fps. (between 0.01-0.001 at other framerates) - Framerates: 1-50 fps - Video tap is based on GoPro internals which allows to record the tap feed in-camera. (Max said he will be adding a cable clamp / adapter since it uses the unreliable micro-hdmi connection from the gopro internals) - Optical viewfinder can be used at the same time as the video tap - Wi-Fi control which allows to set framerate and run/stop wirelessly via your phone - Electronic footage counter. (Maintains footage count after being powered off and has a reset button) - Super 16 gate with ground glass adjustment mechanism. FFD can now be easily tuned and will be precisely set on every model. Max will also be selling a set of tools for calibrating the FFD on this camera so you will be able to calibrate it yourself (I can already hear some of you complaining about how nobody should attempt to do this on their own unless they're a trained technician) - Super 16 viewfinder with correct markings - PL Mount Obviously not a camera for every situation, like narrative projects or basically anything with dialogue. However, I think it's perfect for more abstract projects like music videos or fashion films, especially when you need to move fast and do dynamic handheld stuff. I have one preordered and am super excited to test it out once it's ready! (I think the current eta is March/April)
  2. Hello, I have been thinking about modding my K3 with few mods to make it more relevant in productions (Music videos, short films etc.) Since i never saw some comprehensive post or a discussion about modding the K3 i wanted to start this thread. Any discussion about modding the K3 is welcome. To start of, I saw around a dozen PL mounted K3s around the internet, and i was thinking if there is someone to contact if i wanted to get this mod for myself, or if anybody has some experience with modding the K3 themselves. Another mod that i wanted to ask about was attaching a camera to the viewfinder to get a monitor and an EVF output, how would one go about that? What cameras would you recommend? Also is there a possibility of replacing the spring motor with a Crystal Synch one?
  3. Hello, everyone! I recently bought a K3 on ebay and just finished getting my second roll scanned. Unfortunately, a lot of what would have otherwise been some nice footage came out unusable because of a very strange issue. Here are a couple clips that demonstrate the problem: Basically, at the start of a shot, the film will weave in and out of focus (there are always a few frames at the start of a shot that are in perfect focus) but then the film settles in a position where the center of the frame is blurred, while the sides seem to be in focus. I had only noticed this issue in a couple of shots in the past so I wrote it off as a one-off thing, but it was happening a lot with this last roll I shot. From reading this post from 2008 which describes the exact same issue, (only with an Arri 16S) it seems like the pressure plate just isn't holding the film flat enough, and I need to either replace the current pressure plate spring or tighten it. In some other threads, I've also come across people mentioning that they have tightened the pressure plate spring on their K3's, but I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to do that. Does anyone here happen to know how I could make that adjustment with my K3? Do I maybe need a new pressure plate in general?
  4. Hi all, Just got a Krasnogorsk-3, having an issue with the film slipping up the sprockets as I run it through (at least I think this is the issue but may be wrong) Seems like the sprocket roller isn’t attatched properly on the on the top side? I've tried adjusting with the position of the release pins but even when the film seems to be proplery in place, the film still shifts up and then pulls out the pressure plate as soon as I start to shoot.. Very new to this so any help would be much appreciated, Thanks so much.
  5. Greetings, I am looking to purchase a Krasnogorsk 3 with a motor. Please direct all responses to my inquiry to me via DM or my email address: glauber.lima@yandex.com Thank you
  6. Hello, I bought a Krasnogorsk 3 off of Ebay and it shipped over from Ukraine this Monday. I have a shoot this Saturday so I know it is a bit of a rush but it arrived early enough for me to test the exposed film and I found out that there is a continuous scratch along the non-emulsion side of single perf super 16mm film... I thought since this is a regular 16mm camera, maybe the scratch is where the other claw is trying to pull down? It is not in the middle but rather the edge. But I know K3 takes both double perf and single perf and this scratch is very concerning, not really sure where it is picking up the scratches from. When it is going through the upper loop through the roller I see a single scratch and when it comes out from the lower loop and out into the take up spool, I see another scratch. (2 lines as indicated on the picture) So I am assuming it is from the main sprocket or release pin... Please let me know if I got a crappy one and if or if not this is fixable to start anywhere, because I am sure it is not a dust since it is consistent line all along the film. Thank you so much
  7. I have been looking for a nice and cheap 16mm camera to start with. I don't mind if I have to do some work on it to get it running, as long as it's do-able. the requirements are that it needs to be capable of getting footage that looks good by todays standards, should be between 100-600$ lower the better, (I have to be able to pay for film after buying it). If it doesn't have a motor is it all that hard to make one? will it look like super 8 If shoot with it? Is there any thing I should know? What other cameras should I be looking for? It's things like this that make me aviod a bolex. I've seen better thing shoot on super 8 max 8, like this. I'm going for something like this. I know it's a bolex in the first one. but there are some reasons I don't really want one, including stability. If I had money, I'd want something like this. This is what I'm looking for, in the sense of quality. I'd get a Krasnogorsk 3 if i'd wern"t for being a wind up and only taking 100' of film. I need to blimp what ever I get unless it's self blimped. Krasnogorsk 3 test, ignore the flicer, thats from the eye pice not being covered. P.S. I also consderd a canon scoopic. also how do you control and focus a camera thats blimped, expshilly if it's a home made one? Do I really need a sync motor? Also sorry for being so long with the question. cameras I'm talking about. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Professional-16-mm-movie-camera-KRASNOGORSK-3-M42-lens-Meteor-/401049505137?hash=item5d6069cd71:g:-PMAAOSwwPhWh7Bc http://www.ebay.com/itm/16CP-M-Professional-Movie-Camera-Body-Rare-Russian-ARRIFLEX-16-/272183791532?hash=item3f5f6b0fac:g:6MwAAOSwB4NWywx2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Konvas-1m-Russian-35mm-movie-camera/361508887641?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D36188%26meid%3D36d99c4c1a5c43dcb9afad67dbb73f09%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D121882012376 http://www.ebay.com/itm/ARRIFLEX-ARRI-16-S-B-GS-16mm-FILM-CAMERA-BODY-/262349651275?hash=item3d1541fd4b:g:7C4AAOSwP~tW4RCs
  8. Tobin Crystal Sync Krasnogorsk 3 16mm camera. Plastic loop guiders removed to prevent 16mm from scratching against it. The camera is in EXCELLENT working condition. Also included are rubber eye piece and handle. I can throw in a few extra Zeiss Jenna lenses msg me for videos and pictures of the camera working and running.
