Tyrone Rose posted a topic in Students and New FilmmakersHello fellow filmmakers! I have been editing in premier and color grading in davinci resolve. Ive actually enjoyed the process more than I thought I would but am curious how to achieve certain moods and tonws. I love the memory type of colors we get in call me by your name during the grass scene how might I achieve that? Overall the film has a very blue tone so how might you suggest I grade more romantic scenes, sad scenes, neutral scenes? Lastly, I have had trouble transferring slow motion from premier to resolve any advice? Thanks so much! Tyrone
Bradley Roberts posted a topic in General DiscussionHi all, I was recently introduced to the wide range of image profile (dynamic range) options on industry cameras. I understand that a low dynamic range gives you less tonal range and high gives you higher, but under what circumstances would you want a lower dynamic range versus higher? I was also told that you have to be an experienced colour grader to shoot high dynamic range, can anyone shed light on this? Thanks.
Why is the color of night or moonlight blue?Hi, I'm having a little research. Usually cinematographers or directors (ask) to use blue tone when lighting night scenes and moonlights effects. I believe it's a creative choice but some would make it their standard. Personally, I don't want to use blue in lighting night/moonlight scenes unless it is a creative decision. I'm discussing about this with some of my friends. I want a little help in finding out the background behind it. Where did the idea came from? Who and what film started it? Any links and information about this? Thanks.
