how to do extreme close-ups with DVX 100A

I am shooting a doc in a few weeks, and I want to do some extreme close-ups on certain items. I mean really close, so a lot of detail can be seen. how can I do this? Do I need to buy anything to add on to the camera? Thanks.

Usually the "poor man's macro" works pretty well. Just move the camera close and zoom in. The MOD on the dvx100 is pretty close if I recall.

Full wide you can get right on top of things.

Hi. You can rent a diopter filter. They come in strengths from 1/2 to 3 and usually are 138 mm round filters. You can tape them onto the front of the lens and get closer focus than the lens normally provides. Just be careful with your taping! :rolleyes:

...or really splurge and just buy a good set of 72mm close-up filters and screw them on the front of the lens, sans tape. B)

I'd think you'd want to be long lens on the closeups, as opposed to wide. If you're wide, everything'll be in focus, and more importantly, you'll have pretty severe distortion (barrel distortion, is it?) Moving back and zooming in will reduce your depth of field, and flatten out the perspective (which is what I ASSUME you want).
