Premium Member Marque DeWinter Posted January 15, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted January 15, 2008 My apologies if this has already been discussed (I tried searching and kept getting errors). I'm wondering what everyone thinks of the FF5HD especially in comparison to the FF4. ~Marque
Matthew Rogers
My apologies if this has already been discussed (I tried searching and kept getting errors). I'm wondering what everyone thinks of the FF5HD especially in comparison to the FF4. First, I have not either units. However, I am wondering why you are wanting to compare the FF4 and FF5HD? The FF4 is meant for cine style lenses, and the FF5HD is meant for video lenses. Matthew
Logan Schneider
The FF4 is a bit more sturdy, but has a higher profile and will hit the bottom of some HD lenses (that is my understanding at least). There are now some gears to use the FF5 with film lenses. However, I've heard rumors that ARRI is working on a new full size follow focus that utilizes the internal clamping technology from the FF1, which has zero play. Yes, zero play. However, this will make the new design significantly more expensive. I would say that it could be considered ridiculously expensive.
