Paul Tackett
So I'm in the works of making a dance video. My inspiration is this video As you can see in the video, the editing is crazy. How do you get someone to be in the same place (same position in the frame) yet different backgrounds and environments. This video, at least most if not all, is shot in camera without greenscreen. Your advice would be very helpful.
Tom Jensen
It's pretty simple. Write down your focal length, measure the camera height, measure the subject to camera distance and then match it for every set up after that.
Tom Jensen
Also, set the frame at the bottom giving a consistent amount of foot room and that will keep it close. Any difference will be covered by the edit, change of background and dance movement.
Chris Millar
Fun video that must of been hard work for that dancer As for Tom's advice, yeh its really that simple - maybe give yourself a little room to push/pull/pan/scan in post too ? Either that or you'd have to find the most zoomed in/closest take of all of them (largest dancer) and the rest can punch in to suit - ...or just leave it To get the same exposure issues just keep one setting for all lighting situations  Edited October 17, 2011 by Chris Millar
