I agree that there's been too much criticism of the 17 - 69mm stock lens. As most of us know, K3 camera bodies can vary in reliability due to quality control issues at the factory - ie you could get a good camera or a bad camera. The same sort of inconsistencies are probably true of the stock lens as well - you could get a good sample or a bad sample. My K3's 17-69mm lens gives reasonably sharp and crisp images but not stunningly sharp like a Zeiss. I would say it's a good decent lens but not a great lens. Certainly not a bad lens by any means.

Hey all, I quick question about lenses:

Any recommendations for a 200+mm variable zoom lens?

Thanks,

Dory

Here is a link to a M42 site listing most lenses. I have some they don't list, but they don't take my submissions. :-(.

You can also convert the camera to PL mount. Or like Mr. James Westbrook adopt a OCT lens from a Konvas but it works only with a Bayonet Mount K-3 via Olex.

Generaly I would stay away from anything really old and non-coated.

Why do you need such a long lens anyway? It's 16mm crop, the vibration from the camera motor alone will make the picture unsteady. Plus I reckon you'll need lens support.

I own a Granit-II from the KMZ factory it's a 80-200 lens that Du-All sold to someone for their K-3. I find it to be hard to use.
