Premium Member Raaf Sundquist Posted March 26, 2024 Premium Member Posted March 26, 2024 Hi, Can anyone recommend a resource for getting a custom case created for a smaller sized 16mm camera and gear? The emphasis needs to be on shock absorption and dust resistance. Something like a pelican case with extensive, well fitted padding. Thanks for any recommended resources. Raaf
Premium Member Raaf Sundquist Posted March 26, 2024 Author Premium Member Posted March 26, 2024 Nevermind... Looks like the best option is to cut all the foam myself. I've got this. Thanks...
Jaron Berman Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 MyCaseBuilder Custom Foam - Pelican, SKB, Storm and others I've used them extensively, great work and they have a sorta "I measured wrong" insurance you can buy so if you get the insert wrong they just remake it. Also this guy came up to me on the street while shooting in LA and offered his business card. I have not used him but this may be an option: ZEPHYR INSERTS (@zephyrinserts) • Instagram photos and videos
Matthew Figueroa Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Hi Raaf, You could try Master Cases or Innerspace Cases. https://mastercases.com/ https://www.innerspacecases.com/ Both have done custom case orders and refoaming in the past for me.
Premium Member Raaf Sundquist Posted March 27, 2024 Author Premium Member Posted March 27, 2024 Thanks for both responses @Jaron Berman and @Matthew Figueroa - these are the options I was looking for!
Tobias Deml Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 I can echo the above posters - these services are great, and usually allow you to entirely customize the case build, and usually have a large database of camera and lens models to give you pre-made shapes. If you're looking to save money, buy the case and a fitting size of Kaizen foam, then cut it with a knife. If you're a builder, cutting foam with a laser cutter will get you the cleanest results; I'd stay away from any hot knives since their results are usually messy.
