Tomas Koolhaas
Hi, Your reel has some very nice shots on it, very arty stuff. However I would say that it depends on what you hope to use this reel for: if I was a producer and I was looking for a DP for a feature I dont think this would sell me on your ability to take on a feature. However if it was a documentary or an animation/art film I think this would definately put you in good standing. As I said very arty, not for everyone, I liked it but many producers probably wouldn't. I have heard they look for certain things: How you light faces in general and specifically if you can make acctresses look beautiful, they look for good compositions (including camera movements), and they look at how you can create various moods/atmospheres with lighting and shot composition. Cheers.
Ry Kawanaka
It's hard to tell how you light things from this piece. I can tell that you can make experimental films but I wouldn't know if you are capable of lighting a scene. I think you can put a bit more interior shots in it.
