I am planning to move to California.

Have you heard anything about College of Marin (San Francisco)?

I`ve heard much about Emerson College in Boston.

I'm actually in Southern California (Los Angeles) so I don't have any first hand info about the CC's you are referring to. Have you tried their webiste (if they've got one)? Let me know if you're considering coming down further south, I might be of more help. Best of luck.

I am going to Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA (OCC) and took the film class there taught by Larry Riggins. I would HIGHLY recommend it if you're looking for a community college with a good film program and a great teacher.

I'm originally from northern California and wasn't too impressed with what film programs they had to offer. They also have very limited filmmaking resources, so if you're looking to learn, I'd say move further south.

The other one I know about is:

Stop!

You gotta' check out City college in SF. That's where I went. I think they have an awesome film program. They even still shoot film. Not a lot of community colleges do. All the faculty are working professionals. SF State students enroll there just to take advantage of their Equipment room. CCSF even still has flatbeds. In fact, the have the very flatbed Walter Murch used to edit Apocalypse Now. Just a bit of trivia...
