Guest rdegracia
Question 1: If I shoot 60i and translate it in post pro to 24P in order to get slow motion... what is the equivalence with fp/s ?? = is this 36? or 38? I want to shoot a video clip with moth sync + slow motion...what is the percentage the sound guy should put the music?... Urgent help needed!!! Question 2: Any suggestion about lenses on shooting HD?? what about the comparision Zeiss Diprimes versus Arri Ultraprimes with Pro35 adapter??? Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted July 10, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted July 10, 2004 Hi, I presume by 60i you mean 60 interlaced fields for a total of thirty overall frames per second. There is some imprecision in how this is stated; I would have said 30i. Deinterlacing this will leave you with a total of 30 full frames per second, which is only a small overcrank. However, if you are shooting on a Varicam you may find that you are able to shoot either 60i or 60p, the latter being preferable, but in either case you'll end up with 60 full frames per second, which is a rather larger overcrank. Please be more specific about the camera system and postproduction processes you are considering. Phil
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted July 11, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted July 11, 2004 If you shoot 60i and convert each field into a frame, i.e. turn 60i into 60P, you will get the same slow motion results as shooting at 60 fps / 60P when playing back at 24 fps / 24P. Of course, you lose half your vertical resolution compared to a true progressive scan originated frame.
Mike Brennan
"Question 1: If I shoot 60i and translate it in post pro to 24P in order to get slow motion... what is the equivalence with fp/s ?? = is this 36? or 38?" Consider a 60i frame (made up of two fields) as two 1/2 res 60p pictures. 60i replayed at 24 is a 2.5x slow down. So the audio playback will have to run 2.5 times faster when you shoot. "Question 2: Any suggestion about lenses on shooting HD?? what about the comparision Zeiss Diprimes versus Arri Ultraprimes with Pro35 adapter???" Need more specifics about budget look ect.
